Okay, as of this week I no longer have a car.
Earlier, I asked questions, and got feedback from others here in THIS THREAD[^] about Uber (Thank you community).
Love them or hate them, I'm going to try them.
The problem: Google
Actually, Google's "Terms"
i.e., agreement to allow Google to track your personal transportation, and use that data for any purpose. Wow, anybody with a gMail account; duh.
Anyway, the next thought in my mind is to acquire a second "Uber Phone", i.e., an Android just for Uber.
- I don't like this because it defeats the purpose of a single smart phone
- The alternative (Google transportation behavioral tracking) is even more scary
Question for the experienced: Does Uber keep the data to the minimum needed to do the job ?
i.e., does Uber flood the data stream with 10x more ads and obfuscation than data ?
My thinking at this moment: Get a prepaid phone which is not directly connected to my bank / doctor / etc.

Where do you go that you don't want Google to find out?
On second thoughts, I don't want to know either...

By the power of infallible logic I deduce that Google is you!

Then they probably don't need to go where you go, AT ALL

One option is to get a dual-sim phone, one for the Girlfriend Google and one for everything else.

Maybe, but that doesn't stop the app from collecting your data?

I've never tried it, (got nothing to hide ) but there is the option for multiple user accounts on Android phones.
I'm assuming each account has its own storage and are separate from each other, using that feature with two Sim cards should be the same as having two entirely separate phones.

I would not care. If they don't get your data this way, they will probably get it another way. This is a lost battle.

Indeed.
In a couple of years time, you will have to have an in-car video camera to record your journey in order to get insurance, a few years after that they will be compulsory in all new cars as standard, and the footage will be available to the police. At that point, any last hope you might have of keeping your destinations private will be to walk (wearing a hoodie and a false mustache).

Hoodie an mustache won't help. By that time iris scanners will be cheap and small and mounted everywhere (Minority Report anyone?)

Agreed.
Amendment #4 was just getting in the way of too many corporations' profits, so, it was erased.

It'll probably go for security reasons - cleaning up after themselves for what they are already doing. The UK government is trying to do that at the moment as far as the internet and phones are concerned.

Some data should remain private. While I do not hide the fact that I am religious, I think that the government should not have access to that form of information in a queryable format, for historic reasons.
And yes, convincing the other party that it is a lost battle is a nice strategy. It is also incorrect and false information.

Nevermind, I did not think you were serious.
Geeeeez, considering buying another phone because you do not want some private data to be maybe used for maybe something ? I think some people have too much time/money on their hands.

Privacy saves lives, and there cannot be freedom without it. You can call it democracy, republic, or even an anarchy - but it is not in freedom if you do not have privacy. A very valuable and damned expensive lesson that history thaught us.
..and no, I do not trust any company any more than I trust any government, since that is most often the same bed you're talking about.
