Hello all,
Let's say I want to install an APK from APKMirror into my Android phone... and let's say this apk has been scanned with VirusTotal, NVISO and Anubis...
Can I trust them when all of them are claiming that the APK is legit and that it doesn't have malware?
I know nobody has a magic wand here, but which have been your experiences with that?

Yes of course, but usually from trusted places and after using at least a trusted (yes, I know this is not OK) antivirus software...
Now I can see APKMirror to be a place from where to pick a lot of programs, but I don't know if they are reliable or not so all the virus scan solutions I've mentioned...
That's why I was asking about personal experiences and feedback on those sites...

Just make sure the package name is 'evilevilandevil.apk'.

Most Antivirus engines will use a static check for known bad stuff using signitures, or if is running then it can be flagged using the way the program works.
The problem is there are so many ways to hide what the program does from normal searches they may not be discovered untill a person sepends alot of time going thru it.
I've been doing malware research lately and have seen some pretty crazy ways they hide there real code from the antivirus engines.
So Yes, it is possible malware could slip by.
You would have to trust the source where they are downloaded from and also the author of the file.

I think "someone" may have missed the fundamentals of CCC design. 
The lines have been blurred lately in this forum, I must admit, but in the original format a clue always comprised two clues:
1 a pure lexical one
2 a witty metaphor or such

Yes, but it would give away today's as the code is exactly the same.
I didn't go with today's yesterday as I thought it was blindingly obvious, which is often the way when you know the solution.
I think I may have tried to be too clever and buggered it up.
I did consider going with Salisbury East Central London Truro Saint Albans for a different eight letter word today but stopped with what I thought was the basic one.
