Well I've been back from my 4 day canoe trip on the Suwanee River and had a ball. Took a lot of pictures and started putting them on Flickr for all that care to see what the river looks like. clickity[^]

Mike, do you spend a lot of time setting up each photo or do you just have a great camera- or both!
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

I have a good camera! Sometimes I set up for a shot and sometimes I just shoot the shot so I don't miss it and hope I can photoshop it if it doesn't turn out just the way I want it. It was hard setting up shots in the canoe because the Suwanee have a pretty good current in places so it was shoot the shot or miss it!

Looks like I very well may be heading that way and would like to know all about it from a tech standpoint.

I have to say that LA is one of the most depressing places I have visited. I found it devoid of any character and the general population had taken vapidity to an extreme.

Well so far, some of the people I've met on the phone seem to be nice. What area in particular did you find to be that way?

I was there for a week playing rugby and I can't remember exactly where we stayed.

Well, I figure a good start is to avoid the ghettos. If I can do that, I'll be onto something.

What do you need to know?

Well, what are the people like for one. I keep on hearing bad things about it from my tech coworkers, but in my experience with LA people so far is that they've been super nice. I realize it may not be the cheapest place to live, but I can't help but think not everyone there is so evil like some want me to think.

I've enjoyed my time here. We've met some nice people and have built a decent social circle.
It is expensive to live here; just depends on the area. If you need advice on that or anything else feel free to email and I'll be glad to help.

Also, what are the best areas to live if I want to be able to drive to Hollywood for acting classes a couple times a week without traffic being too much of an issue.

Email me and we can have a proper chat.
Also, depends, are you single? Wife, kids? All makes a difference.

Will do man. I have meeting coming up in a few, but I shall drop a line shortly after.

I'm outside of LA. Anything in particular you want to know?

Yeah man. So far, out of all the tech people (coworkers) I've talked to, they keep on trying to scare me or some crap telling me things like LA people suck. But in my experience, the folks I've talked to on the phone from there have been awesome to chat with. So, I just want a better idea of the people.
And, I'd like like to know the best spots to live reasonablity if I want to have access to Hollywood so I can go to a couple acting classes twice a week. The one in particular I'd go to at first is in North Hollywood I believe.
And of course I want a tech job for the daytime hours. So, any ideas of recruiters or companies hiring would be super.

Well...there's a network of faults underneath the city. Eventually, LA will suffer a BSOD.
