This trailer confirms the expectations that were set when it was first announced that the movie would carry the label "from the director of The Fast and the Furious".
Trek is now a series of action flicks that make tons of the money at the box office, and hit the bargain bin shortly after release. Unlike their predecessors, which still sell at a premium.
I own the DVDs for every TV series and movies until JJ Abrams took over. Unlike the previous incarnations, I've seen the reboot movies exactly once and have no interest in ever seeing them again.

To quote the character of Antonio Salieri in the movie Amadeus: "it's not a holy relic." Gene Roddenberry pitched the original series as "Wagon Train in space."
Star Trek, first and foremost, should be fun, and from the look of the trailer, this one should be as much fun as the first two 'reboot' films. I think they've done a good job of keeping with the essential traits of the original show and the characters, while updating things here and there (Spock and Uhura? cool.)
If I wanted canonical entertainment, I'd watch Masterpiece Theatre.

Sure, but at least the stories had thoughtful elements that have kept it relevant to this day.
JJ-Trek is wall-to-wall action and 'splosions that have more in common with Michael Bay than Gene Roddenberry.

No matter what they do, it can't be as bad as #5.

I think sabotage is a nod back to the First [reboot] movie - Kirk plays it in the car he steals.

So they should've played Intergalactic in the first movie...

"Black holes matter most!" shouted the black hole expert as he tried to squeeze in this light-hearted yet fast-paced comet-tail-like particle of thought into a massive space-minded discussion, only to realize it was entirely a-void-ed (yeah, this thought sucks... though, let's see how many commentors gravitate toward it!)

My hat's off to @OriginalGriff for his "Thought of the Day" which inspired me to this spin-off variant of his original quote-centric jestering posts.
(OK, he may not be the "original" quote-poster, but, original enuff for moi...)

It was originally intended to be a short-term, intermittent thing - but it's got a little out of hand...
I'm now interested in how long I can keep it up before being lynched by the Anti Pun Posse!

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.
