Thanks for caring ! I am pretty busy with some big issues at work, and have also been away in trainings, the kinds where you do not have time to sign in.
Also, I realize that I *might* have reached a CP saturation level, so stepping back a bit is ... not that bad.

Looks like he's taken a position at 123 Reg, a large web hosting company here in the UK.
After 34 hours downtime of their virtual servers they finally admitted that they'd deleted them in an email to customers. Obviously a shedload of their customers were unable to receive this email, but here's an extract:
So what happened to some services? As part of a clean-up process on the 123-reg VPS platform, a script was run at 7am on 16.04.16. This script is run to show us the number of machines active against the master database. An error on the script showed 'zero-records' response from the database for some live VPS. For those customers, this created a 'failure' scenario - showing no VMs and effectively deleting what was on the host. As a result of our team's investigations, we can conclude that the issues faced having resulted in some data loss for some customers. Our teams have been and continue to work to restore. What have we done? We have been working with an extended team of experts and have left no stone unturned. Our teams have been working long into the night to restore as much as we possibly can. We have also invested in external consultants to recover, in the best way possible.

Nightmare. I imagine they are restoring the servers individually which could be a very long job, but no real info on time has been given. In fact they don't seem to have grasped how giving regular updates and information on social media could help limit the damage this spectacular shirtstorm is going to cause them, and maybe even get people back on their side. Some of the 'supportive', 'encouraging' and 'compassionate' messages on Facebook/Twitter are a real joy to read.

I was reading this thread on CP[^] and couldn't help the irony of the verbiage and general social deterioration that broke out as a consequence of the post.
Arguably, it should have been wisely said that there's nothing better to argue about than why you shouldn't argue.
