Thanks Guys.
This was my first post on this website and I had to do it urgently. I will move this question "Ask a Question" section.
Thanks again.

Or The First Post, depending on how you want to look at it.
I notice there is no "Last" link at the top of forums next to First Prev Next, is there some way to view the first post ever (without scrolling through all the pages)? Maybe tricking it by changing the URL parameters, or is that considered rude?
Has anyone seen it? Was it something inane like "First post!" or "Hey look a new forum!" or "Lounge, Schmounge!"?
Apologies for this post which in itself is rather frivolous.

Here it is: Search[^] but the "first message" itself is long gone - it's been sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters. Or possibly archived to save space...

Discussion groups are supposed to be transient, so archiving them just seems wrong.
It'd be like archiving verbal discussions you have with people in the real world. If you discovered that someone was recording and storing your discussions with them, I imagine you'd be pretty pissed off.

Yes certainly, the only exception being discussions with the Mrs. (which will be stored and brought up at some arbitrary time in the future)

The Lounge is a universe that uses a different cosmological constant than the other universes here.
In the Lounge, time's one-way arrow travels without a wake; hence there is no past, and all previous posts are mere collective fantasies, shadows of our human tendency to manufacture memories to suit motivation, context, and then collude to anoint those memories as "reality."
In the QA forums however, the universes there have a continuously circular dimension of time; all messages appear again and again, even though they are posted by different people. Some might call this re-incarnation, or, "what goes around comes around."
I would call it: "the persistence of meaningless," but, I'm a poet, and can't help thinking like that.
cheers, Bill

Hello fellow coders!
You might have read my claim that I was working on a new serializer.
You might have your doubts.
Doubt no more, preview is publicly available here:

Some polishing fill follow (such as implementing the GenerateCSharpCode() method), as well as a CodeProject article soon. Anytime now. (anytime in a few week that is... )
As a side note the code also has a handy POCO property path watcher!

Looking great Lloyd.
That GenerateCSharpCode() will be the feature I'm looking forward to Every serializer I've written in the last 5 years must have that. I've found that to be the easiest way to handle changing file versions over time.
Is it binary compatible with anything else? I'm assuming no, just curious.

Thanks!
As to GenerateCSharpdCode().. it is useful for 3rd party data.
For your own data, you use your own classes!
You change you property as you see fit, no worry!
(new property, or property with a different name just won't be deserialized, obviously..., although.. not that I think of it.. might have a way to specify the serialiier's property name...)

Hi Phil,
Internet back up!
So, replying from my PC.. no.. it is not compatible with anything else. It is my own made up format...

I notice that you post many of your new items as "News"?? Are you doing this just to get a listing under "Latest News"?
I believe "Latest News" is for actual news items, listed in the media. It is not intended for CP users to extend links to other, more personal, postings!
I really think you should limit News Items to actual media news items.

I'm with you on that.
Cornelius Henning wrote: I really think you should limit News Items to actual media news items
That is indeed an interesting topic. Where lies the difference between mere reposting of media "news", provided by news agencies, and creating our very own news? He talked about it previously, and it is something new added so it is at least close to the border of "news".

Your complaint is dully noted.
I am not sure how I could check the accepted nomenclature, except by tediously poring manually over the last many threads or so...
In the mean time I will endeavour to exercise restraint!
