Well faarrrkkkk me. Couldn't highlight and quote Pete's text, had to go to LabVIEWstuff post, high the quote bit and then come back and play jiggery pokery with Pete's post. A schmiddy of light beer/non fat/soy latte sh*t to you Maunder.
Thought all had forgot and only 2 hours left. I'm sitting up watching Finding Dory with the boy (19), I'm on Coopers Stout, he's on Gage Road American Pale Ale. Just about to kick on to Bundy OP and the bastard loves it too. He needs to get a job and keep me in Bundy OP and not the opposite.

Happy Birthday!

"Battle to overtake Switzerland and European standards before an anarchic deal ends in a point." (13)
Clue - start with another word for 'to overtake'.
Good luck.

The answer was "Passchendaele".
to overtake - Pass
Switzerland - CH
european standards - EN
anarchic (anagram of) deal - dael
ends in a point - e.
And of course Passchendaele was one of the many horrific battles of WW1.
I'll make it easier tomorrow.

Oh, I was way off in my thinking.
But in my mind European standards was always CE.

super wrote: But in my mind European standards was always CE. AFAIK that means "Conform European" or something similar, that's way less restrictive than a EN-Norm (the european version of DIN- ISO-Norms)

I seem to be heading to the famed waterway in a craft lacking propulsion...
We've been invited by a Mercan group to an ex-pats' Thanksgiving Dinner tonight. There may [will] be alcohol involved and there probably will be a need for some adulting; a task I am never good at at the best of times.
So what subjects ex-politics can I safely approach? I've got as far as the end of the Goat Curse and that's it. What else could Mercans be thankful for this year?
