What amazes me is that I've been posting them at a rate of five a week for almost three years!
And only missed a few days, and duplicated a couple of times.

Has it been that long? Dang how time flies.
Aren't your sources about dried up by now?

I have many sources, and a file of "future puns" ready to post.
Hopefully I won't run out too soon...

This one's actually more funny becuz it actually does explain stuff, technically speaking, yet most haven't a clue how it even works.

Disappointing. There's nothing there.

12 months ago, on the advice of a network guy that I no longer use, I signed up for AWS "Free tier" to explore using them as a Cloud provider. After 3 months or so, we decided to go in another direction, and tried to cancel the subscription. It has been impossible to do. Today I got an email saying that the 12 month "trial" was over and they would start charging my credit card at higher rates.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to get them to cancel my account and get them to stop billing us?
My next step is to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
I will never do business with Amazon ever again at any level.
Outraged does not begin to describe.....

Call them?
I find it very difficult to believe that you can not solve this problem with....Amazon.

Complaint to your credit card company - especially, show them evidence that you tried to discontinue the server - and tell them not to pay the bill.
Usually, works like magic.

another option is call [and if you have it using the on-line secure email] your bank and report your credit card details stolen [on line] so stop all payments. They should have a 24 hour service for this so effective immediately (in case they attempt to charge you over the weekend.)
Means you might be without a cc for a few days till replacement arranged (ask for a new number), but the bank is required to honour your request.

I'm guessing that they were just warning you that the trial period was over to make sure if you have instances running that you know you'll be charged now.
I think they are trying to insure that you do not get charged.
I remember this all being very confusing too. I thought I was going to be charged also even though the account wasn't really doing anything.
However, it may be somewhat impossible to delete your entire account. I understand that may pose a problem.
But, you should be able to go to your AWS dashboard and check if you have instances running.
Here's a snapshot of mine where I have no instances running and so I don't get charged. I start the instances when I want to run something.

aws dashboard is : aws.amazon.com
Of course setup can be different so please look closely and examine your billing to see what you might be charged for.
Hope you are able to get it resolved.
