Don't believe in that. The universe is made up of protons, electrons, neutrons and morons!
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

It was produced by morons.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Isn't there a test payload that will be delivered to Mars when everything goes as planned?
Edit: They mentioned what will be sent on its way to mars in the article.

If it was my payload I would be skepticle! Last one blew up quite nicely, but hey I wonder if they are using an ASIMO to 'drive' the Tesla, liked the thing about having Star Man on the Hi-Fi.

It's not going to land on Mars. Instead, it will go into a high orbit.

Should be interesting... specially the landing of the rockets...

I think it's a huge waste of resources. They could come up with a much more suitable payload without much thought.

I think it is reasonable. You cant test with anything toxic, or anything too good, in case it f***s up, so an old car is ideal.

I know some managers who I would like to see as test payload.

I thought it was quite smart, if it doesn't get too far the car could tow it back. (May need to swap out the batteries from the rocket.)

My comment wasn't actually meant to be sarcastic. As expensive as launches are, a scientific package of some description would have been a much better use of resources. A Tesla roadster is not a scientific package, and just makes the inhabitants of the planet look even more stupid to anyone that might be passing through.
