Right now, we have adverts in the subway here in Stockholm that promise to make you into a Java developer in less than 3 weeks...

And they will.
Not one that can survive without SO and CP, and probably one that is quite a bit poorer at the end of the course than they were at the beginning, but ...

I think most syllabus content includes just one line of text. "Go to CodeProject to answer all of your homework questions."

I am absolutely certain I don't want to live in a world in which you would never be offended.

About the same time some sect needs to assimilate and brainwash new members. That explains a lot.

It was a bunch of Jawas sitting around the server, performing rituals and chanting, to fix a memory leak. In their religion you don't do that by looking for the bug in the code. Instead, you perform some rituals to please the garbage collection. And I thought that cargo cults only existed on islands in the Pacific.

Well I can become a Full Stackoverflow developer on a new platform in a day. 21 days sounds about right for a total noob to master the fine art of copypasta.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Goto Q&A and look at some of the questions there. These are the graduates of the course.

Go to Q&A 1 year back and you see exactly the same questions from last years 'graduates.'
Sheesh, A 4 month course, why cant they take 10 minutes (in fact 2 would suffice) for a lesson on using a search engine ???

It rather depends on the hours, I'd have thought.
I learnt to code on a similar length course which was 40 hours a week - that's probably a lot more coding tuition (600 hours plus) than a CS graduate gets over a 3 year course.

Yes, very much. There is a senior level developer at work who sent his son to one of those $15,000 bootcamps and the kid could no get a job afterwards. The kid did not have any previous experience or university studies.
I get the total cringes when a student spends years at a for profit institution university and goes into major debt, sometimes 6 figures, and still cannot get a job. Obama went after them and even the military cut off the GI bill, but they're making a comeback.

I'm looking for a Windows application that can create cinemagraphs.
I'd like to find a good one, but since I can't find ANY real prospects at all, I'd probably settle for a mediocre.
I've found one for MacOS, but I don't have a Mac, so that's out. I've found several (of varying quality) for Android, but I don't fancy video editing on a small phone screen. Microsoft has recently released one for what they call cliplets, but it leaves a hell of a lot to be desired functionalitywise. And finally, we have Photoshop, which I have neither the time nor the patience to take on.
Picky? Not in the least...
