I looked into that, once upon a time. Being who I am, I had some logical questions which always seemed to be ducked when I asked around (or saw the TV commercials or read the sales literature).
Your eye vs. cornea-lens are not the correct length. If like me, nearsighted, the eyeball is just too long. Sure - you can have this corrected via corneal abrasion via a laser, but now that it all fits so nicely with the elongated eyeball, the begged question comes into play: What about my near-vision? That's what they like to omit. That you went from near-sighted to far-sighted (or vis-versa).
Then, of course, there's the problems with the not-quite-right procedures, such as flaring around bright objects that never goes away and basic total failures. These, it turns out, were in non-trivial amounts. And, of course, as mentioned elsewhere, you eyes keep changing size and shape with age - how many replays do you get?
So - much as I'd love to go without glasses - I'd rather hedge my bets on the side of non-permanent solutions (like varilux). Besides - I look so very intellectual and cool in glasses.

The worst bit is when you wake up and can't find your glasses. And realise you need your glasses to find your glasses ...

That's one point when I go berserk on the kids - touching the glasses is punishable by death...

Fixed:
cataracts out
lenses in
bionic eyes= the better to see you with
one distance, one close. Rarely need glasses.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

You underestimate the power of the new forms to express yourself you gain with glasses. You can slowly turn towards someone, take off the glasses (let him figure out if you want to see better or are getting ready for a fight), look him over from head to toe, sadly shake your head, put the glasses back on and leave, all without saying a word.

Port hashed a conspiracy at codeproject for example? (9)
Guess it was a sh*t clue as I only had 60 seconds to put it together but thought the fact the word was staring you in the face (highlighted tab at top of page) it would be gotten.
port = com
conspiracy = mutiny
hashed = munity
codeproject = community

Possibly Com is a bit outdated for port these days ( I was thinking Calais, Dover ) 😉

Yeah forgot all about it. Hollering doesn't work if I have e-mail and notifications turned off.

I'm not sure if your email is still valid - I only have the Seagate one, and I assume that died last year when the factory closed. It did close in the end, didn't it?

I'm actually Health and Safety and Quality Control manager for a glass company. I know, long story which I did plan to post about but never got around to doing so. But the short story is it was only meant to be a stop gap but then the ex got heavily into drugs, the children came to live with me, this company allows me to work around getting the kids to school etc so I've stayed.

Good company!
Sorry to hear that - hope the kids are OK.
