Never mind that; did they update the icons?

They did, in fact, update the app icon...or was that already there back in 17? I can't recall. Either way, they've ensured it's now uglier than ever.

Funny thing about being agoraphobic and schizoaffective. You develop a lot of insular activities.
Sorry my mental illness cramps your style, bro. Codeproject is an outlet for me.

I don't see a link to it on the homepage, are you sure it's still open?

I mean they never announced the winners.
I suspect I won, which is one of the reasons I'm eager for the results.

honey the codewitch wrote: I mean they never announced the winners. So, looking at your profile it shows you won November's on December 13. Today is the 14th so I guess it will be announced soon. Don't they usually email you? I get an email for the MVP award.
But it takes a long time to have a computer add up numbers to see who won.

They sort of announce. In the latest articles you see a "So and so won Best article for December with Such and Such" or something.
And they do email. They emailed me when I won in november. I just forgot when.

Congrats on your first prize of the month!
I am not formally educated in computer science. Any good book recommendations for learning compiler technologies and language AST. I want to write a parser for my own language.

Thanks! Didn't you win too? I thought I saw your name come up.
I am in the same boat as you - no formal training.
I taught myself to write parsers.
For a good real world treatment of ASTs you should play around with Microsoft's CodeDOM.
As kludgy as it is, that is a true AST.
For a good real world parser that parses into it, see this article:
Parse Anything, Part 3: Beyond Parsley[^]
The ParsleyHandRolledDemo is a hand built recursive descent parser that parses a subset of C# into the codedom.
If you need help understanding recursive descent parsing, just respond here and I'll give you a quick run down. It's easy.

... this talk of breakfast in the Lounge has got me hungry. And since I had three rashers in the fridge I defrosted yesterday to go with Brussel Sprouts and only used the "tails" I'm sitting here munching on a hot Bacon Sandwich.
Could life get better? I think not ...

Yes, life could get better. It's as simple as tossing those Brussels sprouts.
Actually, I like them roasted--so long as there's lemon juice to suppress the gag reflex.
