My dad finally managed to get me to remove all my text books from university from his house yesterday.
Anyone want some?

I have an extremely crowded one.
The only thing that is able to use the entrance in two directions is the Christmas tree. Everything else that goes up has made a one way trip so far.
I doubt I have anything that will ever reach any value up there, although I hold some hope for my VHS boxset of Porky's and Porky's II: The Next Day.

May I remind the honourable gentleman that zero is a number?

I'll be honest, I posted up the list for piss taking purposes, but I've just had a quick look an Amazon and one of them is still going for over £40 quid, and a few others are still being sold too.

They may be available on Amazon, but that doesn't mean they are selling - try FleaBay instead - if they are there and getting bids, then they are selling. Trouble with old technical books is that the postage cost generally vastly outweighs the value...

One of them has had a number of reviews in the last week alone so someone must be buying it.
Most of them only show up in that New or Used section where seemingly random prices get attached to things.
I do like this 5 star review of the Borland C++ one from 2003;
Quote: i am alberto ibhhafidon from nigeria i have been hearing about the C++ text book look for one way to get it. as i was browsing through the net i saw the text book on sells.
please help me out not that i cannot afford the payment of the book but i am in nigeria i have not seen dollar befor and i dont have any other thing to pay,

That's not Stephenson is it? Either way it's a good reminder that I lent my old copy to a bloke here who has handed his notice in, so I'd better start asking for it back.

thankfully not the 2nd, which was Croft Davidson and full of errors I bought both editions (not very good at maths! had to resit it!) C&D was thicker and less use!

yeah. I would love to see how someone has "learned" java in 24hours (without any background knowledge beforehand)
The only thing you can learn about java in 24hours is that you should keep your hands away from it

All of those "learn XXX in YYY hours/days/weeks" books are pretty much garbage (together with any "for dummies" or multiple exclamation marks in the title) as far as I can see.
Or at least, I've never seen one which produced anything competent by the end.
