Let's see...
They have been hopping from one OS version to the next, every time quietly killing off some stuff and trying to shove us in the new 'one and only' way to go. The only exception was Win7. At that time I had the short lived hope that they finally got in touch with reality again. One of those little 'oooopses' cost me enough code to buy a new Lamborghini, and please not the plain slow base model. Forgive me when my excitement about the next grand new idea does not exactly reach fanoi level anymore.
Trying to imitate Apple also does not help. I'm not going to write any (cr)apps which are expected to cost nothing more than pennies, give them 30% of whatever I get, followed by the government who takes about 50% of the rest. Besides that, I refuse to give them any say in what I may publish and what not. Perhaps the law can come down on me for taking my liberties a little too far, but it's not Mickeysoft's, Apple's or anybody else's business.
And yes, there is also the little issue about the forced updates to Win10. When somebody comes along, installs unwanted stuff on my computer with the intent to draw some bucks out of my pocket, they will discover that they do that only twice with me. The only trust I invest into them after this little stunt is to expect them to become a little less subtle when they think they have sufficiently locked in their sheep.

CDP1802 wrote: killing off some stuff and trying to shove us in the new 'one and only' way to go. Is this different than manufacturers of any product? Cars are newer and better and advertisements say we must get the new car. Appliances, same thing. Don't all manufacturers do this? It's how they stay in business.
CDP1802 wrote: When somebody comes along, installs unwanted stuff on my computer with the intent to draw some bucks out of my pocket, First off, it's the OS. They have the right to keep it up to date, IMO. People have sued Microsoft for not keeping it up to date and they were affected by security holes because they were not up to date. Secondly, what unwanted stuff did they put on your computer that cost you money?
In my opinion, Microsoft is the best software manufacturer in the world and have the best gaming console. They tower above their competition in the OS market. So, instead of griping about forced updates I deal with it and make a good living using their own software to make their own software better.
I also don't see them doing anything different than anyone else in any other market so I can't understand why so many of you hate them so bad.
Are you a Microsoft developer? What do you do for a living?

I don't give a damn what others do or don't do. It's your affair if you want to put up with this. this way they will have the customers they obviously want and the well trained sheep are obviously also happy. Just leave me alone with this.

Don't forget 8 (in all variants) and 9 which just vaporized. Just 10 years of one blank after another, topped by becoming just as awful as Apple and they still wonder why they get the customers they deserve.

No. I found a way to make them deny me their update. While everyone was wrestling with the huge downloads, I was smiling at (supposedly nagging) messages that told me that everyone in the world but me was getting upgrades.
