@raddevus posted about a new book series available on Amazon Kindle Greg Bear sci-fi trilogy and I'm very grateful, but I realized that my favorite series, The Heechee Saga[^] is incomplete in the Kindle store. @Daniel-Pfeffer suggested a great site for finding them Baen's Bar[^], but not in the Kindle format, so I found an article that gives step by step instruction on how to put non-kindle ebooks on a Kindle Paper White or Oasis device. How to Put Free Ebooks on Your Amazon Kindle[^].
Just thought I would share.
[Edit] I also have a huge technical library that I have collected over the past year or so from Humble Bundle[^], so now I can put them on my Kindle.

I use calibre - E-book management for managing my 7000 books and loading them to kindles etc
Very nice software.
If you can't laugh at yourself - ask me and I will do it for you.

And I thought my Calibre library was large with only 800 books, all science fiction which I share with my kids via dropbox.

Plus 1 for Calibre!
It is a really good book database and will convert between more formats than you can shake a stick at!
One nice function is the possibility to add a macro to add "Series - Number" to the title of books when transferring to your e-reader so that you don't need to search to find which is the next Jack Reacher title to read.
If you get a badly formatted e-book you can do all sorts of format search/replace magic too.

7000 books? Do you own the 8 gig or the 32 gig? I curious of how much storage you need for that many books.

I have a second generation Kindle from years ago and have used that feature extensively. You can email files in quite a few different formats including self-authored Word documents.

"mobi" is the original version of Kindle format. You shouldn't need to reencode anything to load ebooks from Baen on a Kindle.
Arguably they should reorder the names in the download link "Mobi/Palm/Kindle Format" puts the format first, but has issues with people not reading the entire thing before giving up. OTOH right below "Read Online" is "Email Kindle Ebook to me"; and if you dig into your amazon settings you can get an address that will let you email them directly to your device instead of having to USB them over.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

The entire Eon series trilogy is available today for only $3.99.
If you like Sci-fi this is a great series from a hugo & nebula award winning author.

Have you read the series? Sometimes you need some good fiction to get your mind off of other things.

Awesome! I'll check it out.
My favorite series was by Frederik Pohl[^] called Gateway[^]. That was an amazing ride with a heart-breaking twist at the end of the first book and an amazing twist at the end of the series.

Gateway looks really good too. Pohl was one of the great sci-fi writers also.
I will check out the series. Thanks

I looked it up on Kindle. It's actually called Heechee Saga (6 book series)[^].
[Edit] Modified the links. I didn't realize that Amazon only has 2 of the 6 books on Kindle.

You can find most of the rest of the books in electronic form on Baen Publishing's site, all except the first. Apparently that was published under a separate license.

The Gateway series is one of those I've read and reread so often that I now have to ration myself how often I go back to it. I have the same problem with C. J. Cherryh's Foreigner series and the Chanur Saga, as well as several books by Niven & Pournelle. This problem got so bad with Heinlein that I declared a moratorium on reading him. I have significant parts of The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress memorized; I've probably read it more than a couple dozen times.
Fortunately my problem's been better since my daughter got married. My son-in-law owns and operates the [shameless plug] Little Professor Book Center in Athens, Ohio (U.S.). I get lots of new authors and titles for my birthday, Christmas, and Father's Day.

I hope that you have read John Varley's "Steel Beach" - partially a tribute to The Moon is a... and a cracking tale to boot.
Varley's "Titan" trilogy is my most read series I suspect.

Nice! I just ordered a new Paper White. I no longer have my old one due to being lost in a move. I've been meaning to get a new one, but just haven't been inspired to get one until now.
