Sometimes, the powerful radio bursts detected by our telescopes have the look of alien beacons, or other strange astronomical phenomena. Other times, they’re caused by scientists reheating coffee. But what if it's aliens IN the microwave oven?

i agree with the point that tech companies should take a stand against the nsa.
Perhaps they should make a encryption project that involves several companies

Let's just say my comment is bad because apparently it requires explanation to be funny.

If you're using Lucene.NET you're probably aware that there hasn't been an update for a long time while the Java version has been moving on constantly. At one point it even looked like the Lucene.NET project would die. I've been observing the Lucene.NET developer mailing list for a while and, joy oh joy, it looks like there will be a Lucene.NET 4.8.0 release soon:

While it's not ready just yet, I thought I'd give you a heads-up in case you're contemplating to abandon the supposedly sinking ship.

All I can say is: w00t!
We use Lucene.NET and even started our own cleaner, neater port of Lucene (the current port is...er...interesting). Any word on what changes are in store? Actual .NET centric code instead of a direct port from Java? Or is that asking too much?
cheers

Numerous commits have the 'word' .NETification in them, usually preceded by the term API.
So yes. .NET Centric Code is on the way in 4.8!
W00T!!

Brisingr Aerowing wrote: So yes. .NET Centric Code is on the way in 4.8! That might be a bit over-enthusiastic; from what I've gathered from the dev-mailinglist, they strive to port it in a .NET centric way, especially where performance can be gained by doing that, but getting the tests to pass has priority over that. Nonetheless, it'll probably be way better than in 3.0.3.

DNA profiling (or genetic fingerprinting) has proved to be a revolutionary tool for forensic investigators as a means to identify potential suspects, exonerate the innocent and convict the guilty. But, like any forensic technique, it has its limitations. One limitation is in cases involving identical twins, something that has raised technical, legal and ethical problems — until now. Grob, Bob's evil twin brother, is in for a rude awakening.

Well, given the probable number of cases where an identical twin tries to blame his twin for a crime he's committed, such research just has to be worth several million of taxpayers' money.
