Relevance of this to technical news ?

Head carving and transporting is a very technical subject.
Didn't know where else to put it.

Actually, I thought that was well known - nothing new here old chap.

Today’s list of programming languages is about a mile long – each associated with a myriad of tools and platforms with various levels of adoption. The languages landscape has changed significantly, which is a blessing and a curse. The one you'll get paid for?

Foul language in my case!

Back-end? You need Java, Ruby or Python. Systems developers will want to focus more on C and C++.

We should define what "great developer" means, first...

Surely a "great" developer can write great code in any language. If you write mediocre code in Java you're only going to write the same mediocre code in C# (or whatever).

There's no such thing as a "software engineer"; if you use that term, you've already lost.

I vaguely recall they had a "software engineering" program at university when I was there. How it differed from the CS department I don't know. But yeah, I agree with you.
I've also met "Systems Engineers". I've never been terribly clear on what they do, either. From the outside, they seem like efficiency experts (possibly with iron rings).

I agree completely.
In fact, sometimes I think the term "sanitation engineer" would be a more accurate job title.

Relationships with Project Managers can be a bit controversial from time to time: we as developers are very prone to complain about them. "Project management is one of those applications that everyone knows someone else should be using."

A variant of the Power Worm ransomware is infecting computers, encrypting their data files, and throwing away the encryption key, all because of an error in the malware's programming. Do they offer a rebate on the ransom then?

Lovely. Buggy malware, and they only accept BitCoin for the ransom. Hah, what uses the inventors of BitCoin never dreamed of.

What is great now, it is that all ransomware will have to prove that they didn't discard the key before getting paid.
The business model is getting fun.

AIUI most of them do let you have a few files for free to prove they can get your stuff back. If you can figure out how to buy a bitcoin before their deadline runs out anyway.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
