Unconditional Love, Ignited, Fatal Desire, and Jacked Up are in one bot's library I guess there will be more "heaving", and "throbbing" in my Google results soon

Well, many people believe Jane Austen novels to be "romance", so if it is "reading" JA it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single search engine in possession of a good database is in search of a good read. I'm half agony, half hope that it will choose good readings... In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My passion for half-quotes will not be repressed.

The .NET Framework Compatibility Diagnostics library is the second tool recently released to help developers gauge compatibility risk when migrating between .NET Framework versions. Remember when we had to worry about versions of DLLs, and the .NET Framework fixed all that?
Yeah. Good times.

Believe it or not, the “possession” of certain numbers could get you into some serious trouble with the law. And now they're coming for you (at least the n% of you in the States)

There is one prime number (an extremely long, unspeakable number)
The Voldemort of numbers.

And I guess the law possesses those numbers.
Does it make the law outlaw ?
Does it make you outlaw if you possess a copy of this law ?

Details are still being finalized, but on July 29th the Get Windows 10 app that facilitates the easy upgrade to Windows 10 will be disabled and eventually removed from PCs worldwide. The silver lining

At first I was going to type "Hallelujah" and ask others to do the same in the various languages available via the CP community.
Then I realized that MicroSloth will probably do something despicable to my system at the same time for not giving in.

Microsoft is reminding everyone today that the free promotion for Windows 10 upgrades is finishing soon. {sarcasm}That should convince people to upgrade {/sarcasm}
Just in case it wasn't obvious.
|
|
|
|
|
Does that mean they will stop trying to push the automatic upgrades ?
|
|

Yes. That was another news item I was thinking of putting in. They'll be removing the pleading app at the same time.

Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

You left out the more important facet of this decisions:
It will now cost you $350 not to upgrade to Windows 10.

And how much has the free update cost people?
Marc
|
|
|
|

I know for me it cost me about seven days of grief - five days of 4-5 BSODs a day, and two days to re-install everything.
Still, I don't mind it most of the time. It's better than Vista!

If you, too, want to hire the world’s best top tech talent, try one of these secret hiring strategies. Also known as 10 more reasons I never want to interview again

WTAF?
So - you work for a company whose only actual asset is the ingenuity of their workforce and you artificially restrict that by having pointless hurdles put in the way of potential recruits? My gast is flabbered!
Here are some alternative strategies:-
1) Be able to give a go/no-go decision during the interview. If you can't officially make the offer why are you talking to the candidate. Good talent can't wait for your process - so fix the process.
2) Meet them where they are. Go to tech meet ups or the like and be able to do quick interviews on spec there. If you don't want to hire the type of person who has an excess of free time (you don't) then don't waste their time to fit your needs.
3) Don't hide anything - show them the team, the machines, the office, the parking etc. Whatever you hide is automatically assumed to be a disaster so if that isn't the case, don't hide it.
(I apologise for the rant but this is unquestionably the most nonsensical garbage I have read in my considerable span as a sentient being. If you ever hear of any company following any of those 10 tips you should short their stock. - Standard Wednesday caveat: wine has been consumed..)
