If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Quote: and it requires only one-tenth as much code as older simulations. So, does this increase the performance, or does this decrease the amount of code being written?
R was one of such languages, which decreases the amount of code to be written to perform data analysis, it is still a wrapper around C. I wonder if this is also a wrapper only. Increasing performance could have just require a few more CPU cores, only.

Security researchers have discovered how to use software defined radio (SDR) to remotely unlock hundreds of millions of cars. The findings are to be presented at a security conference later this week and detail two different vulnerabilities.
Or for our German speaking community:
Die funkgesteuerten Türschließ-Systeme von Millionen Autos, inklusive der Alarmanlagen, lassen sich in Sekundenschnelle knacken: Sicherheitsforscher aus Bochum und Birmingham haben Schwachstellen bei zahlreichen Herstellern ausgemacht.

Well - thank goodness our vehicles are secured with these electronics and chip keys.
They were so insecure when a US$2 key would work.
Now we can spend anywhere from US$70 - $US400 and absolutely know we are safe.

Yes, but can you use the Arduino to turn off the emissions control for a better performing car?
oh, wait, that's just for diesels

For the study, which was published online in the journal Social Science & Medicine, Yale researchers wanted to see how reading books and periodicals affects lifespan. "That's not fair at all. There was time now. There was, was all the time I needed..."

Twilight Zone reference, aside, I offer you and your loyal readers the following thought:
When these types of studies are done, does anyone ever deconvoluted the data for the fact that the lifestyle difference of readers vs. non-readers may account for it all and the reading is merely an incidental artifact?
I guess that might screw up the chances of another research grant.

yes good point ... probably the "whole package" counts in advantage of the "reader types" of people, and reading would indeed not be a cure for smoking

Kind of funny - isn't it - that they adjust for 'health' ?
The effect (or more properly describe, some effect) on health is what they were looking for.

Unusually in such a report, I was pleased to see the following:
Plus, CBS points out, people who read books tend to be healthier, richer, and better educated in general, which might lead to a longer life.

The founder of AdDuplex - the company behind 'AppRaisin' for Windows 10 - has called out Microsoft on its mobile strategy alongside the announcement it has ceased active development on its popular software. Strategy? Not even tactics.

To get this straight, the Microsoft phone tanked and someone is griping.... I get lost there. It's hard for any company to have a strategy in a market segment where they have effectively zero market share.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you right now or process your account because my computer is updating.
Maybe tomorrow.

And Microsoft switching to "only" monthly updates was supposed to save a lot of pain as well.
