Who hasn't lived through the frustrating experience of being without a phone after forgetting to recharge it? This could one day be a thing of the past thanks to technology under development. "Power! Unlimited power!"
So... they built one electrode (not even a full circuit), and it's 'rush to press release we go'?

And it's "hydro", where we don't want water involved, and "Quebec", which (any Canadian from anywhere else in Canada will tell you) is a synonym for f*ck*r.
"Water f*ck*r!"

I thought the bigger problem with solar chargers small enough to use while moving (eg on top of your hiking pack) was that the trickle charging they could do was too low to do much more than to counter the power loss from checking in on towers but not actually using the phone to any substantial extent.

Maybe a solar panel on the back side.
For a Toyota Prius you can order a top solar panel as extra. It will give you power for driving 5 km a day.
Press F1 for help or google it.

still not the one I was originally looking for. It was a cartoon with a UI even more cluster-elephanted than that and with the guilty party going "what are you talking about? I am a user." or some such.

Artificial intelligence is making human speech as malleable and replicable as pixels. Today, a Canadian AI startup named Lyrebird unveiled its first product: a set of algorithms the company claims can clone anyone’s voice by listening to just a single minute of sample audio. Everyone on earth and beyond will want this technology immediately. I'm buying stock in it before it goes IPO.
