Every chance I get, i use
string g . that way people can tell me my variable names are a bit skimpy, and my code style is quite revealing.

I've always used string because it's an intrinsic type, in C#, like int is. I was always suspicious of using String , because it's a class.
But, now, due to the article, I have even more and better ammunition than just my suspicions.

Open source projects that want to emulate Linux's long-term success should heed wise counsel from Linux's creator. 1: Make a decent copy of MINIX 2: "Give it away, give it away, give it away now"

The article says: the open source development model. While that model isn't a guarantee of long-term success, it does offer a clear path for improving technology with the least amount of friction Sa hwa?
I've obviously been mooching around on a different Internet than the one the article writer's on.

I'm still not ready to give up on MINIX - as soon as I get a replacement 51/4" floppy reader that works...
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

I couldn't even classify that one as a fun waste of time. Unless it's a lame April Fool's joke I just don't understand how this is inventive, funny or interesting.
Still: good conversation fodder.

With that lock-out policy, it looks to me as if they were hoping something like this would happen.
It's the old "no news is bad news" ploy -- fanbois are already going around the wine bars bragging about how you can get locked out for "like forEvah, y'know?"

A quest to understand how human intelligence evolved raises some ethical questions. "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"

So?
Scientists on the Interwebs have been mixing donkey-gene potions for humans for ages.
I know, because I get at least a dozen e-mails trying to sell it to me, every week.

Why?
Normal monkeys are still smarter than many humans...
Do they want to make a "planet of the apes"?
