Quote: Similarly, last month, The National Eating Disorder Association shut down it’s telephone helpline in favor of an AI chatbot named Tessa
Quote: NEDA pulled the Tessa chatbot last week after the nonprofit said on Instagram that it may have given harmful information to those seeking comfort. I wonder whose genius plan that was?

For those of us who have watched automation creep into corporations, this isn't news. The reality is that every time there's an economic downturn companies lay people off and use technology to replace them. Remember the "where's the productivity increases from computer technology?" screaming back in the late 90s and early 2000s? Well, when the recession hit in 2008/2009 all of a sudden it was there as people were laid off. The same exact scenario is occurring now.

Volunteer moderators of the forum are striking over a policy that says AI-generated content can practically not be moderated. Now who's going to mark all the questions as 'duplicate'?

As long as it stays there... we already have a bunch of people that post AI crap, but still in green zone. I hope it doesn't rise to that level.

This hands-on secure coding training is the perfect way to sharpen your secure-coding abilities. Through the game, you need to investigate intentionally vulnerable code and find and fix the problem within it. Just in case you don't have the chance to fix enough insecure code of your own

Not-so-magic Moment as optional update automatically installs itself, complete with reported bugs By 'optional', they meant asking you for permission was optional
|
|
|
|
|
Read the article - it appears that only those who foolishly select "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" are getting this update. This check box doesn't say "Get the latest non-optional updates as soon as they're available".

C++ is the only language I know of where two very different sets of programmers consider themselves well versed in the language. You had me at "never trust a programmer"

For me it was "never trust".

I completely concur with this assessment, and I'm looking at myself. I came from C, but I prefer to code in C++. It just makes code organization a little (note a little...) easier. However, I see so many programmers that write C code, toss in through the C++ compiler and tada, they know C++.
The reference to templates is especially telling...

Amazon agreed Wednesday to pay a $25 million US civil penalty to settle Federal Trade Commission (FTC) allegations it violated a child privacy law and deceived parents by keeping for years kids' voice and location data recorded by its popular Alexa voice assistant. For those keeping track, that's about 26 minutes of revenue
Or about 2 days (give or take) of profit.

Quote: In addition to the fine in the Alexa case, the proposed order prohibits Amazon from using deleted geolocation and voice information to create or improve any data product. Odd (but typical in this case) use of the word 'deleted' here.
