Through a new website, Microsoft is allowing some of its customers to download Windows 7 installation media in ISO format. But if you're hoping to repair or refresh an OEM installation of Windows 7, you're out of luck. I've got the details here. Assuming you've got a product key, that is

Yeah but what normal knows what to do with an iso or what it is.
With a hosed osx install you can wipe your drive and still install whatever version you had by just putting in your apple id and pw in the recovery console. Easy Peasy.

Docker’s suite of orchestration services that the container-management startup first detailed in December are now available in beta for the public to download, Docker said on Thursday. "A gift real special: So take off the top, take a look inside"

|
|
|
I too am announcing my Container Service.
I'm calling it UberContainer*.
It is a container service above all other container services.
All you have to do is get our app then any time you want a container, you just yell out, "Container, oh Uber Container, come to me now and run my apps in a Virtual OS!!!"
It will happen and your life will be better because of it. Please send me my $$$$$$$$$$$$$ billions now.
*Uber is the perfect word to use, because it gets people all excited and mad.

Only 40% of the world has ever connected to the Internet and the unconnected mostly live in developing nations, according to a new study published Monday by Facebook-led Internet.org. The other 60% have to watch cats *in person*

And almost 70-80% of those 40% are crazy enough to have been addicted to Facebook/Twitter.
Your time will come, if you let it be right.

The other 60% still live a happy and innocent life...

Google today began automatically converting Adobe Flash ads to HTML5. As a result, it’s now even easier for advertisers to target users on the Google Display Network without a device or browser that supports Flash. Not sure if this is good news, actually

I think for Adobe it becomes much more easy. 99% of the "daily" security updates will only Need to be delivered to Google

I don't believe it is. I can set plugins/flash to "click to enable" so that I only see grey boxes instead of ads. Can't do that with HTML5.

That implies that Flash can do more than HTML5.

It can indeed, like infect our computers with various malware.

If I block the div an ad is in, it doesn't matter if it was implemented in flash, html5, java, or silverblight; all are equally hidden from my view.

As far as I'm concerned it is good news. I hate hate HATE flash with a passion.

And it needs to die. Flash is the new IE6.

YEah - but this initiative won't make it die - it will increase its lifespan - as why would flash devs learn HTML5 if they can keep doing what tghey are doing and have Google do the conversion for them?

You've a point. But maybe they will end-of-life the conversion after giving the converted-to-HTML5 flash code back to the admakers. Then also, at the same time, strip all flash out of webpages displayed in chrome.

I think animated banner ads should be converted to inert JPG's so that the first frame is the only thing they get to show...I can live with that.
Hey, that might be a good idea for a plugin

I wonder if they built their own tool for scratch, or if they're building off of Shumway[^], Mozilla's attempt to create a flash runtime in javascript.
