This isn't the sixties. Everything is simulated on a computer now. It's just better faked, that's all.

Microsoft's head of Windows marketing has confirmed that PC buyers won't be able to get one with Windows 10 pre-installed on that launch date. I'll have to wait a WHOLE DAY? That's it, I'm moving to Linux!

Microsoft has been building a new cloud service and light-weight apps, Project GigJam, on the sly for several years. Here's what's under the covers. OK, I have to apologize to InfoPath when I called it "Microsoft's worst name ever."

I wonder just how many there are outside of Mozilla trying real projects with it.

Alex Stamos, the recently appointed chief security officer at Facebook, has called on software company Adobe to announce an "end-of-life date for Flash." How's next Tuesday at 11am? That work for everyone?
Today, maybe?

What a self-absorbed idiot. Does he think he has such power?

Why is he an idiot?
He is not asking to kill Flash right here right now, but to set a end-of-life date so that web sites can set aside budgets to clean up their own stuff.
He calls to stop using Flash as it is a huge security issue, not only for Facebook, but other corporations.
I'd rather be phishing!

Nobody is forcing anyone to use flash. If it is a "huge issue" then it could simply be removed (or blocked locally like some of us do), but I guess that too much ads are still requiring flash for their animations

The real problem is that every 2nd video website I visit not named Youtube requires a flash player. It's sufficiently irritating that I'm leaning toward reverting the click to play feature in my browser as too annoying. It's not like the flash ads aren't being stopped via another route anyway...

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

You appear to have confused flash with the other abomination of the 1.0 web; java applets.

Oracle doesn't give an elephant about flash; it's adobe's turd not theirs. Assuming they're not still smarting from Mozilla/Chrome putting a bullet in the head of Acrobat reader by replacing it with a javascript/html based pdf reader Adobe might have something pungent to say to farsebook.

It's always boggled my mind that something that displays music, video and images can expose such massive security holes - holes big enough to take out your entire system.
Flash is dead precisely because it's so scary to everyone. If they'd put the effort in to making it actually lean, secure and performant it would be a standard and we'd be done.
(and thank God they didn't make it lean, secure and performant. Die, Flash, die.)
