The merger will give Avast control of 400 million network 'endpoints' running the companies' software We'll always have Norton - uhm, McAfee - uhm, Windows Defender to protect us?

There are signs that Windows Journal -- a massive security hole in Windows -- is about to get the axe "Patches, I'm dependin' on you, boy"
But really - Journal is still distributed with Windows?

This guy is seriously telling people to avoid a patch that will prompt people to upgrade to Windows 10?
I totally get the argument that some environments must be stable and can't be updated willy-nilly. That's why we still have people using IE7. And that's not a good thing in anyone's book.
However, by far the majority of users should be using the latest stable and secure versions of software, especially operating systems.
Yeah - the UI and UX isn't the greatest but we should be putting pressure on Microsoft with constructive suggestions to make it better rather than saying "It's bad and evil and I'll dig my heels in and stick to my 10 year old OS thank you".

I do not say W10 is a bad OS, even the UI/UX gone too far for most... But I do say that the way Microsoft pushes it forward is much more than stinking... If these patches were labeled as 'Upgrade to Windows 10', probably no one would talk about it. Some would take their chance and update and some not. BUT! Microsoft released over 10 patches under different names - including some security related - but with the same purpose, foul people into installing W10... Where I came from it is called a lie! And I'm not one to tolerate liars...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

That is my thought exactly. I even a know a couple of fools who insist on running XP - it apparently lets them do everything they need. In my book, if your needs include any form of connectivity, you're pretty damn stupid to use an O/S that is no longer supported with security patches.
They then go on to say they've never had malware, to which my reply is usually that they've never had malware they were aware of. The worst malware doesn't wreck your system, it just quietly collects data.

Microsoft is making this change as part of their plan to standardize packaging offers across Office 365, Windows 10 Enterprise and the Enterprise Mobility + Security suite. "And that made all the difference"
You just know that decision took many, many meetings of far too many people.

Researchers have created a computer program that can detect lies, be it an email, dating profile or visa application. "Lies lies lies yeah (They're gonna get you)"

70% accuracy? Well, that's a lie for starters! God help us all if they actually start using this in real life situations like visa applications where, let's face it, the only acceptable accuracy is 100%!
