Threat actors now use OneNote attachments in phishing emails that infect victims with remote access malware which can be used to install further malware, steal passwords, or even cryptocurrency wallets. There's a use for OneNote!
I know, some people really get use out of it, but its purpose evades me.

It might be practical, but I don't really like it.

OpenAI needs Microsoft’s funding and cloud-computing power to crunch massive volumes of data and run increasingly complex models. Microsoft already plowed $1 billion into OpenAI in 2019 and invested again in 2021. What does that work out to in ex-employees?
Or Sting concerts?

There's been a shift towards 'memory safe' languages. So, can updates to C++ help it catch up in the eyes of developers? Garbage collection++?

If you want XYZ then go to the language that offers it, don't modify something to try to fit in something it was actually not designed for.
At the end it will end giving more problems that it just had...

Otterkit is a free and open source compiler for the COBOL Programming Language on the .NET platform. Now you can join those cool kids at the COBOL table
And by 'kids', I mean 'greybeards', but they both enjoy pudding cups

I'm glad I never got rid of my COBOL book.

Tempting, tempting... ..but not enough. I forgot that the nostalgic memory of COBOL was actually a nightmare!

On January 8, 2024, GitHub will remove support for Subversion. I wonder if it's because I'm just finding out GitHub supports Subversion?

At least you had the possibility to find it out...
I wonder how many projects google cancelled that I hadn't even had known (if it were not for you.)

I don't know what subversions are, but kudos to them for getting rid of something that very few must use. Stuff like this clutters up a code base, so it's great when it can be eliminated. Writing code can be fun, but I'm never happier than when I can delete some.

What other mathematical constant is literally used as a benchmark for computing power, or forms the basis for a never-ending worldwide grudge match over who can list the most random digits in the correct order (current record: 111,700)? Just look it up?
355/113 ought to be enough for anybody?

CEO Satya Nadella said in an email to employees that the layoffs would only affect 5% of the company, but would begin this week. "I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign, but it's my destiny to be the king of pain"
Or was it a message in a bottle?
