how to read data from hard disk using int86() function??i have used the 0x13 interrupt and then passed
0x42 to a.h.ah.but m not too sure of wat m reading

Ummm, that function doesn't exist in the Win32 API. INT86 and INT86X were part of QBasic 2 and 3, many, Many, MANY years ago.
This is doable using the Win32 API CreateFile and various other functions, but without further details about what you're doing and using, it's difficult to describe.

actually i am trying to make read the data from a hard disk using dos.i am using dos because of memory requirements.in os after win98 this function does not work.

I believe 0x26 interrupt was the old DOS absolute disk write. I believe you should look at the Digital Mars compiler, as it still supports dos_abs_disk_write() and other ancient function calls. In addition it supports COFF format and can generate a MS-DOS stub.

The problem with using the old DOS functions under WinNT kernels is that, one, DOS doesn't exist anymore (except for a compatibilty box), and two, the functions are off-limits to user mode applications.
I already told you under today's O/S, you have to use the Win32 API to do what you want.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a try. I've googled this without getting an answer. Does anyone know how to programatically eject a PCMCIA card (In this case a Novatel AirCard)? Does .NET have this functionality, or is there something in the win32 API?

I was under the impression that PCMCIA card's had a hardware only locking and ejector system? Or am I thinking of the wrong cards?
They're the ones which you have to push in to release, then the button sticks out a bit and then you have to push it back in to lock it again?

Sorry. I should have clarified what I meant by "eject". What I want to do is to "stop" the card. The equivalent of clicking on the systray icon and stopping the card for "safe" removal.

Hi all
I cannot formate my c: Drive using windows Xp Inbuilt function(Formate Drive)
Anyone has idea what to do?
Is there any other way to formate c Drive.
I have partitioned my disk into 5 drives
C:[Old Windows XP]-> this drive doesn't formated using formate option.
D:
E:
F:
G:[Working Windows XP]
My wingows is in Drive G.

Hello everyone..
I am trying to use a POS terminal as a smart card reader. I read two articles about smart card framework which was written by Oliver but It seems I can't establish a connection between my POS terminal and my PC. I pluged terminal's rs232 output and one of my USB ports. Am I doing this work completly wrong or what? Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

hi, i got problem with my usb, it contain movie and when i want to delete that movie, it cannot error message says that that program is running but i already close the file, after that i try to unplug and plug again and after that try to delete instantly but it doesnt work , i tried to format disk but it said any disk utilities still running in this drive, but that drive only contain movie and i am not openning movie already, can you solve this

When you delete a file that's locked by another process, you could corrupt the other process, but then I assume you already know that. This may or may not work, and if it trashes your system, I won't be accepting responsibility.

Hi,
I'm looking for ideas on having a single PC with 5 or more independant Display outputs, prefably able to run 3D/DirectX output on any of them.
What hardware configurations should I be looking into?
An Embedded solution would be nice, but any tips are welcome

How hard is it to do a search? Assuming you want all of the displays to have the same capabilities, DFI makes a motherboard with three PCIx 16x slots. Then buy three identical dual-head (DVI) video cards. At that point, you have the ability to run SIX monitors.
You're not going to find a motherboard with enough embedded circuitry to run five monitors (much less, two).

I'm not sure who stuck a stick up your rear end today, but I hope the pain eases soon (or whatever it was that made you decide to reply so venomously to a fairly reasonable request for ideas).
Yes the multiple PCIx slot option is out there, I was wondering if there were any other solutions.
I know that at least one regular here works with building multiple display systems a lot, and had hoped he would have some advice.
As for embedded solutions, there are a number of Embedded boards that support 2 independant displays, one of which we are already using.

The problem is that so many people posting on here are lazy and just expect others to do the research for them.
In future it'd be a good idea to indicate in your post that you have already done some research and the result of the research. THen indicate your asking for people personal experience and opinions to build o nthat.
