There is such a thing as apci graphics card, that is not pci-express. These cards generally ar not as popular and most shops will not stock them, but you can get them. You can probably get up to a 128MB card, maybe 256MB, but the downfall is lower graphics bandwidth. If you are not using it for very high performance, it should be fine, Gaming, Video editing, a PCI Graphics card should do the job.
Ask your local pc store if they can get them or browse online.
Tip: If you go into a shop and you don't see certificates, chances are, the person may not know what your talking about, always go to a trained professional.

Without knowing what the STOP code and error message is and what version of Windows you're using, there's nothing anyone can do to help you.

install windbg.exe (free downlload).
then use it to open the crash dump you will find in your system dir, or in your minidump dir.
note the offending .sys file it names as guilty, then identify which device this driver belongs to by searching the internet/looking at the properties of the sys file etc.
then bitch like hell to the company that sold you this pile of crap driver.

hello!! can anyone tell me how to get the Manufacturer's serial number (and not the volume number) of Hard disk using C++? i am trying to retrive the hard disk serial number while using Windows9X. i have seen a code which does the same thing, but it does not work for windows9X. can anyone give me any information about this?? thanks..

take a look at:

it is something i have used. however, you have to compile it as a 16 bit DOS command line program. it should run under a Win98 DOS box.
currently it only works on IDE chaing 0 and 1. if you have plugin cards like Promise cards, it is not set to those addresses.
i got this code from a friend, don't totally understand it at this point. if you modify it to be more generic as to IDE drive number, i would appreciate the cleaned up code.
it won't compile or work on W2k or XP.

I have a code in Visual Basic 6.
It's work with Windows XP OS but i don't test it with Windows 98 OS.
You can test it 
If it worked you can create a dll file in VB and use it on VC++.
If it's worked notice me 
*For testing exe file in win 98 you must install Visual Basic run times files.

You can ask Windows to check all protected system files using sfc /scannow. Have your Windows CD ready.
To extract a single file from the OS CD, use the extract tool.
If you have disk corruption it's usually a sign that the drive or memory in your system is faulty. Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic[^] or MemTest86 (original[^], revised[^]) tools to check that there are no memory faults. If nothing shows up, replace the drive.

I've just bought a new SD card for my pda and when I've tried to insert into the card reader of the notebook it shows a message telling me that I have to format it. That's ok but when I try to format it, the dialog just permits me to format it for a 1 Gb capacity when it's of 2 Gb. I've tried to do it with another card reader and it happens the same ...

It's possible that your PDA only supports 1Gig cards. Check with the manufacturer of your PDA to see if there is an update you can install.

I finally found it. The problem was with the notebook driver that I had to update it to support formats bigger than 1 Gig. Now it works fine.

Which notebook? I'm looking at buying some 2GB SD cards for use with my laptop and camera, and knowing I would have a problem in advance would be good

Hp Compaq nc6120. Maybe you'll have to update the driver depending on you last system restoration/update. Mine was last done October 2005.

Assuming that Username and Password are typed correctly (caps lock key not being used, capitalisation correct ?) then suggest you interrogate user manual which should advise of procedure to take.
If it doesn't, you might have to contact your router's manufacturers customer support phone line or internet based FAQ.
Anyhow, I suspect you will end up having to reset the router to factory default settings.

I concur, your probably have to reset the router. The user manual might tell you how to do that. I suggest that you change your password to something not so obvious. Keeping the defaults is dangerous, if your router can be accessed otherwise (and no, WLAN with WEP aint secure).

Hi all,
I have created a device independent driver. For which i want a application launcher. My drivers name is "TestIOCTL" and its symbollic link is "\Device\TestIOCTL ". I now want to open this driver file for which i have used the following code segment.
hDevice = CreateFile ("\\DosDevices\\TestIOCTL",

FILE_SHARE_READ | FILE_SHARE_WRITE,

OPEN_EXISTING,
FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL,

);
The hDevice returns 3 thro GetError() Method meaning File not found. Can anyone tell me how to open this driver file.
