Hi,
I need to write a c/c++ code to get the bios rom size.
so I choose the SPI RDID cmd, I have gone through the web for samples,
but the codes are almost embedded stuff.
I need this utility to run on my Notebook, the SPI flash chip connect with EC(embedded controller).
how can I get the SPI base address register, also other SPI register offset(SPI Data register/SPI CMD register/SPI Config register).
Any insight will be high appreciated.

Hello to all.
I m using HP laserjet 6L Gold Printer. And recently I changed my system. Now I m trying to use my printer but It will not working.
System Configure: core 2 Duo process, DG31PR motherboard, 2GB RAM.
Printer Configure: It contain Parallel Port Connector.
Problem is in motherboard no parallel port connector so I used PCI Card.
Now my system detected Printer and it was installed but it will not printing data.
I was check below things:
1. Data Cable.
2. Default Printer and offset status and It will always in Ready Status.
3. Parallel Port selection LPT3 to LPT1.
Is any other ways to check or any other possibility.
Thanks in Advance.

Hello All,
I Have Cash Machine , How can I use Microsoft.PointOfService library to Open Drawer Cash?
|
|
|
|
|
Quoted from MSDN[^];
If one application claims the cash drawer, then only that
application may call the OpenDrawer and WaitForDrawerClose methods.
This feature provides a degree of security, because these methods
may effectively be restricted to the main application if that
application claims the device at startup. Good luck

Hello CodeProject,
My microphone on my headset stopped working a few weeks ago, and I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with it. The Microphone / Line-In device says it's working, but it isn't. I've tried rebooting, reconnecting it, disabling/re-enabling it, reconfiguring it, the whole nine yards but nothing seems to work. I'm using Vista, by the way.
I tried following this[^] but in Step 3 Figure 7, my window only has a 'Speakers' bar...no microphone or anything else.
Any help you guys have would be appreciated greatly

You only went 8 3/4 yards. It might be broken. Did you try a replacement?
Cheers,
Sebastian

Thanks for replying! Actually, I just found out that somehow the driver stopped working and it didn't say anything when I checked. Installing the latest drivers and chipsets from Dell fixed it. Thanks anyways!

I've just built a new PC that has an AMD Phenom II 955 3.2GHz processor. The BIOS sees this. But Windows 7 shows only 1.6GHz.
I've fiddled with the BIOS as much as I can figure out. But to no avail. I've been to the AMD site to see if there is anthing that I can do to get it to work properly, again to no avail (maybe I missed something). Googling hasn't helped as I end up of gamer sites where nothing makes any sense whatsoever.
The only thing in the system that is rated as 1.6GHz is the RAM, but the BIOS setting for it was set to 1066MHz. Also, RAM is pretty much always slower than the processor speed.
I'm at a bit of a loss now as I can't figure out what is wrong. The most irritating things is that because of the slowed down processor the Windows Experience Index is calculated as 3.9 (the 4 year old PC it is replacing has a score of 4.2)
The details:
Motherboard: Gigabyte motherboard MA790XT-UD4P AMD AM3 790X ATX
Processor: AMD CPU AM3 Phenom II X4 955 quad core 3.2GHz x4 Black Edition
RAM: OCZ Memory 4GB (2x2048MB) Intel Extreme Edition XMP Ready Series DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz RAM Dual Channel CL 7-7-7-24XMP Profile 2: 1800MHz 9-9-9-31 Intel Black XTC Heatspreader

Are you sure it's not a reporting error? You could try and run SiSoft Sandra, and see if your performance is as expected with your hardware.

It could be... I have thought about that possibility but the system does seem slightly sluggish and the benchmark tests that windows runs to determine the windows experience score return quite a low result.
I'll look into the SiSoft Sandra thing when I get back home tonight.

Is this happening at full load, or only at idle?

Good question. No idea.
I used the AMD Cpu tool to report speed and it came back as Current: 1.6GHz, MaxSpeed: Unfused. No idea what "unfused" means.

Install prime95 and do a stress test. Then check your cpu speed.
I suspect your CPU is fine. For power saving reasons any CPU from the last few years underclocks itself when idle.

Check that the power scheme is Balanced or Max Perf. If it's Power Saver, the CPU will be underclocked. (I don't think this is the cause, actually, since the default should be Balanced and desktops don't get the tray icon that lets you change schemes, but it's all I can think of)

Power Scheme was set to Balanced. I set it to Max yesterday but to no avail.

I set the BIOS up manually, but using all the settings it had auto-detected. Windows and the AMD Processor utility now report the CPU speed as what I would expect.
However, it did not alter my Windows Experience scores after I re-ran the test. And a processor stress test only ran about 10% faster than the previous run, despite the processor now running at twice the speed.

Did you compare? You need ANY processor "grading" tool that can compare with online lists of similar computers. SiSoft Sandra just sprang to my mind, but PC-Mark or others might work just as well.

Hi friends,
I need to know how to remove virus from the Computer without using Antivirus Software.
If you know the Answer. Please Reply

Can you you a webbased AV tool, or is that unacceptable for the same reason you can't do it the normal way?
If not, you'll have to search for a removal guide for the specific virus you've got. www.google.commay be of assistance.

Check the name of virus from online scanning tool. Most antivirus provider provide such service. Then, download removal tool/Fix tool and scan. Cost=$0

I need to use a webcam for a project where I need to control cam's internal parameters. I know that I can find in the market cameras with some API's, like logitech.
For the other side I know I can do something with DShow and Windows Driver Development kit.
Someone can tell me what is the better way to begin with this project, I mean which tools are more convenient to use and if you know some appropiate camera with Api's or SDKs, that makes more easy and reliable this implementation, the application must be implemented in c++ -- THANKS IN ADVANCE !

Dear All,
Please give a solution to cut the paper when i print..
i m using thermal printer.
For print,i send a string to print

I don't think C# is sharp enough to cut paper.
If your printer can cut paper, there must be some command to make it do so. I would try sending an ASCII formfeed; then read the documentation.
