Try using the GROUP BY clause on Month(YourDateFieldHere) in your SQL query

By Using Group BY i will get the data in the form of rows, but i want each month amount in the corresponding month.

You might also want to look up Pivot Tables and their usage...

I'm developing a C++ program that should check whether SQL 2k5, Exchange 2k7, Oracle 10g are installed on the system. Based on whether one of it is installed the program shall invoke a different C++ function. The check shall be made by probing for certain registry keys/values by the C++ main program.
I would like to know which keys/values are set by the installation of
SQL 2k5
Exchange 2k7
Oracle 10g.
Also are there registy keys/values probing is foolproof enough to guarantee the successfull calling of the appropriate function?
On a sidenote are there any registry keys/values that are common and same for all the above three databases irrespective of different flavours. The idea is that the same registry check works for all the different version of a database.

Better thing to do is to probably try to ping each of the programs (SQl, Exchange, and Oracle), and if you get a response that you can connect, then they are there.

Doubt it. Looking at the registry key will probably require searching for keys of each product.

Not with a single column. Assuming that you are outputting the data using a separate application then couldn't you just append the appropriate prefix in the code?

Hello!
First of all - sorry for my English. It's very poor.
So, I'm a C# beginner and few days ago I started to develop a solution witch use SQL Database. The database is attached to the project. Using VS I've created some tables and put there some data. Then tryied to create datagrid with simple select - it works without any problem. After that I've created form whitch is used to inserting data. And here I have problem. Everything works, form tells me "1 row affected", but the data doesn't appears in db. I don't have any idea why is that. Insert is ok, everything seems to work great... but it don't.
Do you have idea what is on about?
Every time you press 'Run' VS will make a copy of your database and put it in the output directory. Your program will then change this copy - which will get overwritten next time your run your project.

Hmmm. I knew that, but don't know why I didn't interpret this correct.
Thank you very much. You helped me to solve this problem.

Hello,
I am having trouble sending an email from a stored procedure in MS-SQL 2005. Here is the error:
xp_sendmail: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.
The box is a server and does not have Outlook loaded but does have "Database Mail" loaded along with the SMTP mail for IIS loaded and running. What do I need to do to get xp_sendmail to work? The docs on this command are sparse and hard to follow for configuring.
Thanks,
Leo T. Smith

I'm not familiar using xp_sendmail- i only tried to send mails by using sp_send_dbmail. Did you try out this function? maybe you could use that one!

Hi everyone,
I have been given the task of importing and exporting many flat files (about 200) into and out of an SQL Server 2005 db. I intend on using SSIS to do this.
I have done some basic training on SSIS through the free www.appdev.com video training, but I will definitely need some more reference materials. Can anyone recommend some good technical SSIS books or some online training/tutorials that can help me with this?
I don't have any books on SSIS, but SQLIS.com[^] is a useful site.

Hi, I have a problem. Both simple and weird. Say I have ParentTable and ChildTable. Obviously, ChildTable is a child of ParentTable. Both are strongly-typed DataSets.
When I create rows for them, I start by creating a ParentTableRow (dataset.ParentTable.AddParentTableRow()), and inserting it into my dataset.
Then I create my childTable the same way, and I have to specify the a ParentTableRow, as a reference to its parent. I do it and it looks fine in the debugger (i.e. the ParentTableRow is set). I insert the child row into the dataset too.
Then, before committing the changes to the database, I must call GetChanges() on ChildTable, which gives out an array of all rows that have been changed since the loading of the dataset. My new ChildTableRow appears, BUT the ParentTableRow member, (the reference to its parent) is NULL, although it was set earlier!
Just before the call to GetChanges() I looked at my ChildTable in the debugger (from dataset.ChildTable) and guess what? The ParentTableRow is still there! It looks like GetChanges() ignores the reference to the ParentTableRow or something...
Has anyone any idea of what's going on and how to get though this?
Thank you!
why don't you call GetChanges on the whole dataset itself? I think it would solve your problem.
Well thanks, it solves my problem, but do you know why it is so? I sincerely feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here.
Thank you very much!

No. I don't know why it is so
