Interestingly I told him yesterday to change it to a tip and it did disappear out of the article moderation shortly afterwards. So it really *is* a case of "how did this get through"!

To be a moderator, I think you should have gold Author - nothing else is important.
That way, only the people who write good articles decide if it's suitable.

Are you suggesting that all gold authors are writing good articles. 
Some of them just write many.
But then again, I don't have any better suggestions at the moment.

No, but it's somewhere to start - at least people who get to gold know how much work is involved in writing a good article!

Then the last month was quite long. The 'article' has been published nearly 3 years ago.

I'm talking about all the cases. We've seen too many such Article/Tip getting approved recently. Looks like Approval mechanism needs some improvements.

I would like to see the mechanism changed too and have already complained.
It was just my note that this example does not fit.

I've spoken to Chris about increasing the reputation requirement for being able to report articles in the queue. In the meantime, please always report any articles you find as Extremely Poor Quality or Inaccurate/Misleading. They will be accessed and removed if need be.

On the other hand, the standard was much lower when I joined ten years ago. My early articles wouldn't pass muster today. Nor are they worth re-writing today.
