Considering quite a few other thumbs that are floating around I find a pirate quite harmless.
I'm generally reacting when a thumb is of the wrong sex or an obvious stock photo.

When in doubt I'm also looking at their history. I have doubts about the intentions here.

Spam setup questions are usually posted by newly-created accounts which have no other interaction with the site. That account has been here for five years, and posted 42 questions, 6 answers and 50 comments, of which only the one question you've linked to looks even remotely suspicious.

The question might attract some spam answers, but I don't think it's a setup.
