.NET will be available 2nd half of 2001 - but in the meantime there are rumors that the beta will be available from MS this month.
Just cross your fingers and hope!

I don't care what the majority seem to say - I think .NET will be way cool. Finally we get connected services working together!

I totally agree. I have been playing around with the NGWSSDK, C# and VS.NET since the PDC and I really like what I see. Of course, the performance isn't up to snuff but this is pre-Beta after all.

Is there any other way to get a preview of these tools (Visual Studio/C++ 7) without going to something like the PDC? Everyone doesnt have 300 dollars for a ticket plus a plain-ticket, etc.

I have heard that if you are a MSDN Pro or greater subscriber, MS has talked about doing an August distribution of the Tech Preview materials they gave us at the PDC. Not sure if this will actually happen or not. Anyway, MS should start the beta program sometime this fall, say October-ish.

you can go the the microsoft site and the .net pages and order a cd for about 13 dollars us. If you are and msdn universal subscriber you can download it or wait until they send it to you free.
