Hi All,
For point no. 2 I've found the solution. Go to command window and type "immed". this will launch the "immediate window"

I installed the .net 3.0 on windows 2003 sp2.
When i drag & drop a button control into the page. The button didn't show the smooth corner. It is a angle corner. Why?
Thanks.

By default you will see smooth corner in XP OS not in 2003

I need a way to transparently aggregate any .NET class and intercept all calls to that class. I used to be to do this very easily in COM, using COM aggregation and overriding the invoke method. I need to the same thing in .NET. It so I can transparently include code around a method in a given class, the client still invokes the class in same way, unaware they are getting my additional code for free.
Any ideas ?

Hi all,
Please help me in this issue, I have a website working from a time and i logged on many times to the website administration pages with no problems, after some times i deleted all the cookies from my pc, and cleaned the temp. IE files, so i could not after that logged on to the website admin.
I tried from other pcs if I delete the cookies from there i can not login.
The most important that the login page does not give me an error, it seems i loged on but it does not redirect me to the admin. pages.
I tried to over write the asp net client script files with no hope, some body say that i need to configure the scriptmap of that website!!
anyway I can not globally overwrite the aspnet client libraries for all domains hosted on this server, which is not something I can do on a shared hosting environment.
What is the commands to unregister, fix, register the scriptmap for one application and not for all on IIS?
I use IIS 6 on Win 2003 and asp 1.1
Asp 2.0 installed also but not for this website.
Note: Localy on my pc i have the same configuration but evrything is working perfect!
The prooblem is on the server where they can not solve it!!!
Thank you

Hi guys,
The following question I have is not directly a problem I’m having but rather a solution that I’m looking for.
I have a win32 application written in .NET 2.0, basically a forms over data applications sending data back and forth to a SQL Server 2005 database.
Now, our clients do not want to remote desktop to the server where the application and SQL server resides on, but rather be able to have user have like a client sitting on their local machines accessing the .exe application remotely.
I don’t know if that is possible in the first place, so basically I’m looking for a solution where my users will be able to run the win32 application remotely without having to be on the physical server i.e. remote desktop to it.
Has anybody out here faced a similar challenge before?
I hope I make sense and hope to get your feedback soon.
Thanks.

You have two choices. You can either run the application on each clients machine and the app can connect to the SQL database over TCP/IP, or you can run the application remotely using something like Terminal Services[^] or a Citrix[^] box.

You wouldn't be able "run" the application, however the client app could interact with the server by using .NET Remoting or possibly creating web services on the server to interact with (no you don't necessarily need IIS, you can host the WS within your application).
only two letters away from being an asset

I download the files about the .net 3.0 WPF and install it on two computers. Both their OS is windows 2003, but one is SP1, another is SP2.
Now I found that the WPF's project could work well in SP!, not work in SP2. I don't know whether this is the reason.
Does anybody meet this problem too? Please give me a advice, thanks very much.

Suppose i use active-x control or make an abc.dll and add it in my project as reference.
then i make setup and deploy it on client machine.
Now on client machine [path] C:\programfiles\myproject
will contain that abc.dll.
Is client can re-use that abc.dll or active-x dll in another project by exposing its methods etc?
Because it will be naked on client machine.

creating a DLL is to reuse the same code in differents applications just by refering the DLL instead of rewriting the code.

Unless you put some form of licensing in place, then yes - the client can reuse the DLL in another project.
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

Hi,
can anyone help me?
On a directory structure i want to break the inherited access rules on a folder and apply a new rule. To remove the inherited rule i use the following code snippet.
Dim di As DirectoryInfo
Dim ds As DirectorySecurity
Dim arc As AuthorizationRuleCollection
Dim idx As Integer
Dim fsar As FileSystemAccessRule
Dim strGroup As String
Try
di = New DirectoryInfo(txtDirectoryName.Text)
ds = di.GetAccessControl()
arc = ds.GetAccessRules(True, True, GetType(System.Security.Principal.NTAccount))
For idx = 0 To arc.Count - 1
fsar = arc.Item(idx)
strGroup = fsar.IdentityReference.Value
If strGroup = txtGroup.Text Then
ds.RemoveAccessRuleSpecific(fsar)
di.SetAccessControl(ds)
End If
Next idx
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message, MsgBoxStyle.Exclamation + MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly)
End Try
After running this code there is no change. So, can anyone tell what i have to do to break the inheritance.
Thanks
Willi

Hi,
I'm not 100% sure but as far as I know you cannot remove inherited rules - but you can just override them.

Hi,
I've got the solution:
There is a method "DirectorySecurity.SetAccessRuleProtection(isProtected as Boolean, preserveInheritance as Boolean)" which allow to break or set the inheritance. So I only have to replace in the code snippet above the line
ds.RemoveAccessRuleSpecific(fsar)
with
ds.SetAccessRuleProtection(True, False)
to remove alle the access rights inherited from the folder above and set new access rights for the folder and its children.

I have a WebBrowser and I'm using it like this:
webSummary.DocumentText = temp;
Where temp is a string containing som text and sometimes a tag. If the string contains a link to an image the webbrowser will totally freak out. It will flicker, constantly updating and you can't scroll or anything.
Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi,
I have got a solution file that contains multiple managed code projects, and some projects have dependecies/references(Project References),when i compile/build a particular project through MSBuild it compiles/builds the project and dependencies of that project too, is there a way/flag of MSBuild so that it shouldn't compile/build the depedencies

Dear All,
i have developed a desktop based application using C#.NET, which require access to some USB based devices.
I have to use this application on target PCs in which the USB port is disabled by the system administrator.
From the application, i wants to enable & disable the USB drives programatically, so that no other application can use the USB ports, as per configured by the system administrator.
ie, enable the USB port before the application require access to the USB port it & disable it after the use.
I need to achieve the same when the application is running in a login, who doesn't have administrative rights.
Is it possible to achieve the same using .NET framework?
Do any one knows how to implement the same. If so, please inform me.
Best Regards,
Abhilash Chandran
