Although Microsoft chose to have the same extension for these files, there are different "flavors" of dll files.
1. Native dll that has exported funtions - Use DllImport attribute to use functions in these dlls
2. COM dll (aka ActiveX dll) - Use 'add reference' dialog to add reference to these dlls - The VS IDE silently creates a RCW (Runtime Callable Wrapper), that is essentially a .NET Assembly that makes it easy to use your COM dll. This is what has happend in your case (Interop.Dsofile.dll is the RCW for dsofile.dll - you need both files for your app to run).
3. Managed dll (aka .NET Assembly) - These are created by .NET compilers and can be used directly from .NET clients. They can also be used by COM clients using CCW (COM Callable Wrappers).

Hi there... I need some help with putting data in a ListView from a list of objects (List<object>).
It's a rather complex list I have, because the objects in my list itself contains list of objects in many levels.
I'll try to simplify the list:
Let's say we have the following list of objects:
List<x> -> where X contains "A", "B", "C" and "List<y>"
List<y> -> contains "D", "E", "F" and "List<z>"
List<z> -> contains "G", "H", "I".
The list is placed in one project called Control, in class controller.cs
In another project called View, in class myForm.cs I have a ListView.
View has reference to Control, so myForm.cs will be "calling" controller.cs
Now to my problem: I would like to bind (object- or data-bind) my ListView to the List<x>, so that the ListView will list the "A's", "E's" and "I's" for all X-objects in the list.
Furthermore, if the user change data in the ListView, it should also change in the List<x>.
AND, if the user add a new row in the ListView with new data (A, E and I) the List<x> should contain a new X-object with the "A", "E" and "I" data.
For this example the other properties could just be empty (null) or whatever.
I've searched the net for a solution, without luck. All I find is something like binding datatables to ListView.
Someone here who can help me with this?

The Listview does not support databinding natively although there are a number of work around examples[^].
Your design sucks if you are allowing the user to edit the data in a list control (Listview or grid). The management of the control and the list and the events associated with editing is a PITA.
I suggest you pop a dialog for the user to edit into and deal with the dialogresult to reload the list.

You are right. I'm using DataGridView now.... much better
But I ran into a new problem
On a form I have a ComboBox binded with List<x>, so that the ComboBox views the "Name" of the X-objects. Works fine
But for the selected X-object i ComboBox, I want to view the X's Y-objects (List<y>) in a DataGridView.
But I can't find a way to bind the ComboBox and DataGridView together.

ContextMenuStrip offers both BackColor and ForeColor propreties. Set those.

Hello Everyone
In my project i have a modules in which sub modules are as.,
1. Admin( entering the Emp Details)
2. Operator ( Entering the Visitor Details)
3. Client (Emp's)
at start the login window will come and then deponding the user name and password they will login
i have already created Admin and Operator and working file
Admin will enter all the details of employee.
Operator : when visitor comes he will enter the details of visitor like name, company number Photo (using webcam) of Visitor etc.....
then this information needed to send the person whom the visitor want to meet ( Client) (Employee) through LAN.
As soon as the Operator send the information
and Emp will see the photo and details, he has the option of accepting or rejecting....... if accepting print the Visitor Card..... or else leave
i am not getting wat to use. Socket or Remoting or WCF ?
does socket support image sending?
i thought about WCF but finding it diffcult to implement
kindly help me

Socket will be the simplest method of all.

Socket won't know any difference between image and data. You can have your own protocol and add some header information to the client side application to know that the data coming is a image file. The application can then display the image and name accordingly.

I have a Problem in Printing Receipt using EPSION DotMatrix Printer using C# program. The Report has been designed in CrystalReport11-R2. My papers size is Heigth:10 inch Width:9.5 Inch.
Printing single page is ok, but when i print morethan one page at once datas are printed in unrequired location.
So, I want to ask which paper setting should be done for my paper and how?
In short, How can i Print receipt in continuous sheet paper having height 10 inch and Width 9.5 inch using EPSION Dot Matrix Printer using C# code?

In a Winforms application? I'd make a Menu item and set Ctrl+S as the hot key.
(Or I could be completely wrong; I ate a handfull of chocolate-covered espresso beans.)

Just listen for the KeyPress event of the form (if it's in fact a WinForm application). When the key, or the key combination, is pressed just run your method. For instance:

Hey,
I got a project to make an video application (that I can see myself on windows form).
The problem is that I dont know how to do that kind of things, so I searched the net and found the WIA COM and thinking of using it.
I found that article: WIA Scripting and .NET[^]
But for some reason my computter says that the COM "WIALib" not exists... so I continued search and found that:

CommonDialogClass class1 = new CommonDialogClass();
Gives me an problem

and the same for that:

Someone can explain me why?
