Hi,
Can someone point me in the right direction on how to search through all files over multiple drives to look for duplicates?

Hi,
1.
there must be lots of utilities around that do this, some even for free.
2.
if I were to develop one, I would enumerate all files and calculate a checksum for each; then investigate files with matching checksums only.
Warning: different partitions/devices can use different file systems, resulting in slightly different dates (e.g. FAT is accurate up to 2 seconds only), and maybe even slightly different sizes.
[ADDED]Also Daylight Saving Time conventions may be different on different machines on a network.[/ADDED]
Anyway, this would take a while, as all data has to be read from the disk(s) to do it properly. One can not simply rely on file names!

I only read code that is properly formatted, adding PRE tags is the easiest way to obtain that. All Toronto weekends should be extremely wet until we get it automated in regular forums, not just QA.

What do you mean with calculating a checksum?

something like a longitudinal checksum, summarizing all the data into a short number, so you can store it in memory and compare. Equal files are bound to have equal checksums, and equal checksums probably (but not absolutely) indicate identical file contents.
Google or other search engines should be your friend; you might read this[^] and more.

Comparing file contents is slow, so you only want to do it when you have to. You can go through the drives and build a hash table of files and their sizes. Different sizes mean no duplicates.
For the files that have the same size, the next step is to look at contents (I'm assuming you also want to detect duplicate contents stored under different names, or with different times.) You could store check sums with the files, as Luc suggested, but check sums could be wrong for similar files. They can be used for avoiding comparing file contents: If the check sums are different, the files are different. But if they're the same, you have to look at the contents for confirmation.

You might need to contact the hardware manufacturer for some documentation. There are samples available on the internet if you do a search, but they may not work with your fingerprint reader drivers.Me, I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest.

what i want to do is to create a voicespeech that will "say" a message that i have already written.. so what i'm doing is that i'm including "using SpeechLib;" and then when i want to choose "SpVoice" method it won't show up .. so i couldn't use it.. that's the problem

OK, lets try the obvious stuff first:
1. Have you added the Assembly to the project (as per the first picture on the answer here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vbpowerpacks/thread/87c15a18-dd30-4ebd-9775-3777c3225168[^]
2. Sometimes [often] the intellisense on Visual Studio goes wrong. Have you tried restarting.

Hello guys ..... I have developed my own POS System using C# which supports POS Printer and Normal printers ... But this days in our country the Government came with a new POS Printer which is called BNC Printer. I think what makes this printer different from others is that it has a network connection with the government which sends every transaction to their Database. But my POS System is not unable to print using this printer. Even the Printer doesn't have a driver ... So any body who has an idea on how to work on this Printer, Please help me??? ... Other wise my System will be out of use a little bit latter ... Please help me .. Thank you.

There are some software companies whose POS System works on this new printer!!! ... So there must be some dll file or a code which helps to print !!! any clue??

sure, just look at how they do it. Maybe the printer works with an existing driver. Maybe there is a driver you don't know about. And maybe there is sufficient documentation and some company did create a driver, so you can go and negotiate with them.
Whatever it is, enforcing the use of a specific printer and not providing a solution to the driver situation makes no sense.

Since this is a business , no body is not willing to give what they got!!! It is like find the dll file from some where else then write a code by your self..... @ least if we got any file,documentation or dll file .. I will probalby do the rest of work my self ... But do u think that I cant get any documentation online??

until now wat i've in mind is zat .... it is a cash register printer by its self ... so zat u can work on it alone with out using computer ... but we wanted 2 use z cash register's printer .... until now wat i heard is that it has no driver ... but there are other companies who wrote the code .... so if u have any clue please helpp me .. thnx
