A file stream doesn't use any more memory if you open a large file. It's probably the compression component that uses the memory.
I don't know if that specific library supports this, but speaking generally about zip compression:
The amount of memory the compression uses depends on the compression rate selected. If you select a lower compression rate it should use much less memory. The difference in file size between different compression rates are usually quite small.

I try change the compression level (currently is 6, and the maximum is 9). But I don't understand, why is the compression level changes memory usage, I think bigger level eat mutch CPU time, but memory...
So you said File.Open method handle the large file problem? And what about reading time?

Zip files work by creating a 'dictionary' where each bit string in the dictionary stands for a longer bitstring in the compressed file. Higher compression levels create a larger dictionary length.

Yes. A stream uses a buffer to read a small part of the file at a time. The default size for the buffer is 4096 bytes, so that's certainly not the cause of the memory consumption.

but for a compressed file, the dictionary needs to be in memory until the extraction is completed.

Hi,
I working on a solution where I want to send a MSXMLDOM from a unmanaged application to a .NET class. In my .NET class I want to use the System.XML classes to read the XML data. My .NET class is visible as a COM object.
What datatype should my inparameter be, so I can convert the MSXMLDOM sent in to a XMLDocument in .NET?

Is there a reason that you can't serialize your data into XML then read it into the XMLDocument? That's what XML was made for: inter-platform communication.

Yes, there is. The "exporting" application has a problem with large strings  Thats why I don´t want to send the data as a string.

If you can have your MSXMLDOM output the entire XML document as string, then you can use xmlDoc.LoadXml(string xmldocument).
public XMLDocFromDom(string xmldocument)

Hello!
I got a few problems:
1)
I´m making a program that runs another, I used PostMessage to call File->Import, there comes my problem, a Folder Browser Dialog is opened and I have no idea on how to deal with the treeview box, my program must select a specific Folder.
I would like to know also about ListView and Combobox!
2)
How can I enumarate all the controls in a window so that I can (for instance) press buttons, check radio buttons, read labels etc?!

This is not answer but, this is what I have learned so far ( I'm still learning so don't take this as the end all answer in any way! )

So CallEnumChildWindows when you find the parent window. That will give you the handle you need. All controls are a window.
I have noticed that others say to use SendInput, while more say PostMessage. I like SendInput better, but it is was more complicated. You have to actually move the mouse around, send input, and other cool stuff. And, I'm still figuring it out.
If you use Spy++ you can locate your window in question and inspect what is there. Look for the item object name.
I have noticed that Tabs have a tab window with a panel.
I hope this has hepled you.
PS: TreeViews. I think you have to actually hook into thier callback functions to get the data. I tried a long time ago, and remember that since a treeview works on callbacks you have to do that. I could be wrong tho.

I haven't used DataGridView since we're using .NET 1.1 at work, but
if you have rows in your DGView with 1 column, I seriously doubt that you can add new rows containing 2 columns. Unless you can change existing 1 column rows into rows with 2 merged columns.
I'm only second guessing though.

You can call "net start server-name" to start a service by using the Process class. It's not elegant but it should work..
