Hello everybody.
iam currently using an application that reads text to speech from a rich text box but what i want is the following:
RTL languages are not supported for reading i just need to know how can i differentiate between the english line of string from other languages ?how can i do that!!!
Any one has solution please don't hesitate to help me

Control.RightToLeft i would assume. But that would cover the whole TextBox/Control, not sure about lines...

hello every body... i am interested in building up an ftp client but the problem is that i don't know how to connect to an ftp client and know which files are available for download and then how to download that file...
please provide help, ie a piece of code and a bit explanation and also provide with links from where i can get help

hello my friend .
All you have to do is to connect to the ftp server using its ip address and the common port of any ftp server which is 21 by the following piece of code

From that code you are able to connect to the given ftp server and begin asynchronous reading and writing to that ftp server then what you all have to do is :
to pass to the ftp server normal ftp client commands that deals with file structures and enumerations.
Like Dir
get
put
and quit
and each time the ftp server will respond to your client with specific response you have to parse that response to know the actual response of the ftp server for example
in dir command
to list all current files in the current folders
the ftp server will send you all files in binary with all of their attribbutes.Then you will have to parse these binary data to its actual ASCII values and you are done.
You can google for Ftp Client commands .
And you will get the answer there

Hello,
I'm trying to use transparency colors on images with .NET CF 2.0. I am using the SetColorKey method of the ImageAttributes with the Color.Magenta as mask. On the .NET Framework, it works fine, the mask is applied, but on the .NET CF, I can see that the mask color has been replaced by the black color. So, how can I handle transparency colors on the .NET CF platform??? Can somebody help me?

Hi,
I hope this is the right board for this (my first post here at codeproject).
I have a DataSet containing three Tables: address, country and project. There are two DataRelations defined. One address points to a country and some projects point to one address. I trying my luck with a lot of data binding, so I use some label controls to show the entries of one address.
For example:
myLabelAddressName.DataBindings.Add("Text", myDataSet.DefaultViewManager, "address.name");
To show all related projects in a listbox I use:
myListboxProjects.DataSource = myDataSet.DefaultViewManager;<br />
myListboxProjects.DisplayMember = "address.RelationAddressToProjects.projectnumber";
To control the actual data row to be displayed, I use a CurrencyManager:
CurrencyManager curr = (CurrencyManager) this.BindingContext[myDataSet.DefaultDisplayManager, "address"];<br />
curr.Position++;
This works quite fine so far, but now comes the problem. What do I do, if I want the correct country for every address being display (data bound) to another label? Remember, in this case the country table is the master and the address is the child.
I would think of something like this:
myLabelAddressCountry.DataBindings.Add("Text", myDataSet.DefaultViewManager, "address.RelationAddressToCountries.countryname");
The problem simply is, that I cannot create the relation RelationAddressToCountries, since there is not an address to every country, which would be mandatory. Can I somehow use the relation from countries to addresses backward?

I have binding source that I created in the main form, since it has a grid on it. Now I want to use that same binding source to edit properties on a dialog that can be popped up.
How do I tell the designer to use that binding source? Do I put the binding source somewhere public/static? Is the designer smart enough to it out if I set a binding source field in the dialog (I'm about to try that).
In general, using the designer, how do I get one form to see stuff in another form?
I can't believe I'm asking such a basic question, because obviously I know how to do this in the code, but using the designer, I'm clueless. (Why I'm using the designer is another matter, let's just say I'm in a masochistic mood today).
[edit]In fact, I can't even figure out how the DataBindings thingy in the properties page even works in the designer[/edit].

Can anyone direct me as to where to find examples of how to create a strategy game, such as checkers, by using C# in a windows application? I am most interested in how to draw a checker board and checker pieces, and how to allow the user to drag and drop a checker piece. I have been unsuccessful in finding this, so far, and it would be really neat to play with this type of code. Thanks.

I have tried using the following code: TapPage.Hide() to make a tab page invisible but nothing happens it just sits there laughing at me.
The tab page is placed on a Window Form in the Form design area and is not created dynamically.
Does anybody know what I can do to make it invisible?
I am the handsome one in the crowd.

Hi,
I need to distinguish progressive jpeg's from baseline jpeg's.
So far I retrieved all image properties using image.GetPropertyItem, and all properties are the same for these two kinds.
There is also function GetEncoderParameterList, but it can only (at least as far as I know) be used to set encoding properties when you want to save a file.
Do you know maybe how can I use GetEncoderParameterList for my purpose? Or, how can I distinguish these two types of JPEG's by reading and comparing bytes from image file.

Progressive information is held in the JPEG compression header. You need to read in the jpeg file then access the fields by address. There are three single byte address fields (0xC2, 0xC6, 0xCA) that holds progressive information. Generally I think 0xC2 is always set if the jpeg is progressive.
So create a struct that contains the information you want and then read the file into that struct (fread, or the .NET equivlant), and then access the proper field.

Hey Sly,
Here is a link to some code samples to give you an idea on what to do. Don't follow exactly because the addressing doesn't line up, the BITMAPINFO struct doesn't break out the progressive address so you would have mask the information you need out of what it does hold.

The last post might be a little better info. Also these snippets are written in C so you would have to translate that to C# .NET. Since I haven't done this type of stuff in .NET I can't tell where to head.

You are right, when I saw "View solution" I didn't even scroll down the page.
I also found a book which covers that topic very well. The title is:
"Compressed Image File Formats: jpeg, png, gif, xbm, bmp" by John Miano, 1999
It also has a CD with console application (jpegdump) written in c++ extracting all info from jpeg file.
Now, I only need to convert it to c#. Great!!!

in a windows form I am trying to populate a datagrid from an arraylist. instead of getting the text value I am getting the length of each string in the array passed to the grid, in this case the number "5"
ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
list.Add("Test1");
list.Add("Test2");
dataGrid1.DataSource = list;
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I developing a windows application which will have login verification and other stuffs.
I want to lock the application when the user is idle (as like in windows ctrl+alt+del lock) for some time(say 1 hour - it should be confiurable parameter).
how can i do that in c#
I found one event in Application.idle but this event trigger once the UI get painted.

I use a class that implements IMessageFilter that is added as a message filter after the user has logged in (i.e. Application.AddMessageFilter). The filter contains a timer that gets reset everytime a mouse or keyboard message is received. If the timer ticks (i.e. no mouse or keyboard activity for a defined period of time - five minutes in my case) then my application becomes "inactive" (actually all it does is stop counting how much time the user has been using the program).
When a new keyboard or mouse event is received while the app is sleeping it will wake back up and start tracking time again.
