The Enterprise Library solution contains Solution Folders. These are only supported in VS2005 so you will not be able to open the solution in C# Express. From memory I think there is an option in the installer that tells it to build the assemblies at the end of the install process. There is also a shortcut to a batch file in the Start menu that you can use to build the assemblies.
Access to the source code is not required to use the Enterprise Library. You only need to add references to the compiled assemblies in your project and usually some basic configuration information added to your config files. Those references can be added to a C# Express project and the configuration can be added using the Enterprise Library Configuration tool.

I am using asp:WebPartManager in my code along with passport 3.1.but I get an error

Could anyone help.
After putting in some effort, i got the point that httpcontenxt.user.isauthenticated was not true in case of passport 3.1 whcih is necessary for webparts , i guess.
So how do i make that authenticate true.

This is a lot easier in .NET 2.0. Check out the new System.Net.NetworkInformation namespace. The NetworkInterface class contains a property called OperationalStatus that contains an Enumeration value indicating the current status. The namespace also contains a Ping class that you can use to check the availability of a specific address and a NetworkAvailabilityChangedEventHandler Delegate that you can hook up to methods that you want called when network availability changes.
This should be a lot more fun than typing a URL into your browser.

How do I install .Net 2.0? I have installed .Net framework 2.0, but when I use Visual Studio 2003 and view the About dialog, it still shows me .Net framework 1.1? What do I have to do in order to begin using .Net framework 2.0?

I don't think you can use .NET 2.0 framwork with VS2003. It will still only pickup version 1.1. I think it can only be used with VS2005, or the express products.

Hope this will work, as per your requirement...
For installing .Net 2.0 download from the Internet and Install.
Go to your respective framework folder May be "C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\"in you command prompt...
cd v1.1.4322(which is your directory for .net 1.1)
than run
aspnet_regiis -u (this will uninstall your .net 1.1)
then go to 2.0 framework directry
may be v2.0.50727 or v2.0.*
aspnet_regiis -i (this will install your .net 2.0)
you may check it wiht
aspnet_regiis -lv (this will List all the version...)

to sum up the other answers, you can develop for framework .NET 2.0 only with VS2005
|

As others have said, only VS 2005 will develop apps for .NET 2.0. If you don't have it, you can download the free Express editions from here[^]. With some limitations (which most really don't matter), the Express editions are totally free, and can be used for commercial development.

Installing .Net 2.0 is fine. Even if you don't have Visual Studio 2005, 2.0 will let you run apps that may have been developed in VS2005, so don't uninstall it.
Note: do NOT unistall .Net 1.1. If you do, anything developed in VS2003 will not run. .Net 1.1 and .Net 2.0 can co-exist togeather, with no problems.

That appears to be VBScript. Are you new to C# and .NET development? You can use ADO.NET to execute your SQL commands in C#. You can also use SQLDMO or SMO for performing maintenance tasks on SQL Server. SMO is available only in SQL Server 2005 versions. A search on MSDN for SQLDMO or SMO should return plenty of results. Hello,
I have a form with several controls whose content is saved to an internal object when the control gets the Validated event.
The problem is that when my Save button is clicked on the ToolStrip, the control that currently has focus doesn't lose it, so it never gets the Validating/Validated events.
Using the good-old ToolBar from .NET 1.x, I could try to set the focus to the toolbar in my ButtonClick event handler, and if it failed, I knew the Validating event had prevented focus getting out of it.
But while the ToolStrip has an ItemClicked event, it seems it's only fired for a ToolStripDropDown, and not for a regular ToolStrip.
I tried catching the Click event, but I didn't get it either.
So, any ideas? I don't want to have to do it in the Click handler for every item.
