1. Open new C# Windows project
2. Click Windows Forms palette
3. Drag and Drop Timer on your form
4. Drag and Drop Label on your form
5. Double click in Timer and write this code:

First add following to the declaration:

private Form2 LoginForm;

and set "IsMdiContainer" property of parent form to true

Now in page load of parent form:

this.LoginForm = new Form2();
LoginForm.MdiParent = this;
LoginForm.LayoutMdi(System.Windows.Forms.MdiLayout.Cascade);
LoginForm.Show();

Then U can add ur logic to the Login button on the Login Form:

string Username = txtUserName.Text;
string Password = txtPassword.Text;
authenticateCustomer(Username,Password);
this.Close();

What?!

The OP didn't supply nearly enough information to give an answer.

* He said login "page" - That implies that it is a web application.
* If it is a winforms application how do you know he is using (or wants) and MDI interface?

When a client gives you a vague specification like that do you go away and code for weeks to come back and have them say: No, that's not what I wanted at all.

Listen and understand - if not enough information is forthcoming then ask questions rather than blunder in. If you think you know what they mean then state the assumptions you've made: It isn't clear from what you wrote but I assume you meant X, Y and Z. If those are correct then this might be of use. If not then maybe you could fill in the details....

If that would have been ASP.NET problem, then he would have posted on ASP.NET forum. I think it is not an ASP.NET forum. That is why I had given answer in such way...........

He "should" have posted in the ASP.NET forum, yes. But the forums overlap, often people post database questions here (that should go in the ADO.NET forum - but since they are programming in C# they don't see that, they think that C# == ADO.NET not realising one is a language and the other is a framework used by many languages), or ASP.NET questions for the same reasons. Also, many people post database questions in the ASP.NET forum because their thought is that they are developing a web application (rather than a data driven application).

Where these boundaries are fuzzy it is important to ask questions to clarify what a person actually means. Each person makes different assumptions on apparently the same data.

No mistake, just you made a set of assumptions that may or may not be correct. A former collegue of mine used to say, almost daily, "assumption is the mother of all f*** ups". Hi, I'm Mario from Italy.
Can someone explain me how I can intercept an FTP Event ?
I try to explain.
I know that some IP address send me a file by FTP. I want to know by C# code when this happens.
Anyway I need a kind of listener which tells me who send the file and where it is headed.

Can somebody helps me ?

Either you must intercept all packages and snoop on the FTP that way, or implement your own FTP server (which is quite easy at least in passive mode, and I am sure you can find base implementations out there). You could also make a proxy (write a program listening on the standard FTP port, but once connected it simply parse all data to a real FTP server running on another port - this will allow you to see all commands).

I just installed VS 2005 and I'm getting an error on an existing application. I'm exposing a component to COM using C#, when I use this COM component I get an AccessViolation. "Attempted to read or write to protected memory".

What changed with the .Net Framework 2.0 and how could I fix this.

How to get Caps lock num lock state

Hello there,
probably an easy thing but I can`t seem to find it right away...
How can I know wether the caps lock or num lock key is pressed when my form is loading (without having to wait for a key press event)?

Try this:

Hello once again!

I was wondering why i cant seem to add data to my datarow. here's the code snippet im hoping if you guys could help me out on this one...

DataTable dt = new DataTable();
string[] arrEmpIDs = strEmpID.Split(',');
for (int q=0; q<arrEmpIDs.Length; q++)
{
        DataRow dr = dt.NewRow();
	dr[q] = objDSPHContribRep.fgetEmpPhilHealthInfo(arrEmpIDs[q]);
	dt.Rows.Add(dr);
}
return dt;

the array holds 10 strings and the function works fine (database retrieval). Well the program hangs before dt.Rows.Add(dr); and im totaly clueless why.

Looks like you are in an infinite loop - is this what you are trying to do?

DataTable dt = new DataTable();

string[] arrEmpIDs = strEmpID.Split(',');
DataRow dr = dt.NewRow();

Im not arguing or anything i was just wondering if i remove

from the loop won't the program just add 1 long row instead of 10 short rows? oh yeah and since the program originaly hangs at dr[q] = objDSPHContribRep.fgetEmpPhilHealthInfo(arrEmpIDs[q]); upon debugging what would prevent it from stalling this time? pardon me for asking so much questions im still new at this and im thankful for al your helps Big Grin | :-D

Accessing Main menu Item?

Hi Friends,
I am creating MDI(Multiple Document Interface) windows application. In the starting I show a login form while my main Menu of the parent form is disabled(I had set enabled property of menu items to false).

After successful login, I want to enable the Main menu items.
The problem is that I am unable to access the enabled property of the menu items of my main menu from my code.

Plz suggest the way to access the Enabled property of menu items.

Huh? Why is that so?

Alternatively, you could try leaving the menu items enabled by default and making the login dialog modal.

I want that in the starting, the user will not see any menu item enabled and when the child form(Login form), the login button is clicked In that I could apply the logic that if the logic is successful, then the menu items will be enabled at run time.
I want to access the enabled property of the menu of Parent form in the Login button click event of the child form.

#1 If the login dialog is made modal, how does it matter if the menu is enabled or not?

If you do not want to make the login dialog modal for some reason:
#2 Instead of trying to access the controls from the login dialog, why don't you do it once the dialog is closed? Depending on the return value (which I suppose you use to indicate login success/failure), you can enable the menu or anything you want.
