Hello,
I need to solve simplest problem. I have some abstract factory which will initiate on demand seperate processes(.NET EXE's). It means abstract factory needs to initiate processes at any time and let the newly created processes be able to communicate with process in which abstract factory reside. This interprocess communication is going to be done factory created them. Thse processes would background processes (no GUI involved).. What's the possible solution to this problem.
.NET remoting or PIPES all makes the processes able to communicate after they have been initiated . But here first they need to be initiated on demand and they'll execute seprate standalon processes (They will be shown in task manager as well as standing process) and then after that inter process communication will take place.

Hello,
I am having some problems using SharpSvn. I am creating a module for my IDE that allows users to have Subversion support. The module is inspired by AnhkSVN and therefore it functions almost the same way. However, my commit and update code isn't working. First off, my committing code: http://pastebin.com/qvWRUip2
That code is supposed to commit the whole project. However, when executing it, the progress dialog pops up, closes again almost instantly, and SharpSVN comes up with a dialog saying "Commit Failed (details follow):", however there are no more details. (See attachment) This also kills the thread, as actions after the e.Client.Commit line aren't executed. The weird thing is that the code is almost identical to the AnhkSVN committing code, yet it does not work.
And now to my updating code. This actually "works fine", the progress dialog comes up, it starts to transfer. I have all my project files on my computer, not uploaded yet, so the only thing there is on the Subversion repo is a folder. However, when transfering, every single file it appends the following actions: "Updating (file) - TreeConflict (file) - Update (directory of file) - Completed"
And then all the files get a little marker in the shell with a Warning triangle on it.

Again, it is almost identical to the AnhkSVN code.
What am I doing wrong? I have the project added to the Subversion repo using my own "Add To Subversion" dialog, which does the same thing as the AnhkSVN version, same code, etc., and TortoiseSVN also marks the files pending changes in Windows Explorer.
I have no clue.

I do not see anything in your question that makes it a C# problem, so can only assume you posted to the wrong website. Perhaps posting it here[^] will get the help you need.

I would suspect that you aren't catching the error code you need to catch in the switch block (commitArgs.LastException.SvnErrorCode). Add a break point on the switch and see what the value actually is.

Yes, this was the error. I figured out, from that, that it didn't commit because of the tree conflict. Any other SVN client did this too, and I just had to recreate the repo.

No one is going to 'send' you any code...
To implement such kind of communication you might want to look at WCF (or maybe sockets).

Look into "window messages". You can import the function (SendMessage) from one of the windows dll's.
Use WndProc function (again an import) to 'catch' the message. You'll probably have to create a message id by registering it.
It's pretty easy and straightforward once you found out how.
Look for :
- Sendmessage
- Register window message
- WndProc
to get you started.

Then I suggest you have a look at the documentation available with the avi wrapper that you have found.
See if they provide something which will help you start up.

Hi All,
I'm retrieving data from a SQL Server 2005 Database table by table and fill in to a DataSet. Later I take each table and go do the required functionality.
My problem is that I need to check whether a given column is AutoIncriment Column. I used "Columns[x].AutoIncrement" property to check whether it is a auto incriment column or not.
But it always returns false even though the given column is an Autiincriment column in the Database. Why is this happening?

I use the following to get the information from the systables, I'm sure there is a better way but I have not updated this code for ages, try looking into the system views for the information

I am using a database in my application, but I can't help feeling I'm doing it the wrong way...
Currently I make a connection using the absolute path to the database.
DBConn = New SqlCeConnection("Data Source = " + path + "; Password=" + DBPass);
This path is stored in the registry. However the first time the app runs, there will be no such path.
Is there any way to link the application code to the database like using resources, such as images?
Or some sort of relative path? Since the database shows in my solution explorer, I figured there should be a way.
Things get really messed up when publishing the app. I have to ask the user where he stored the database 
Any hints?

Some suggestion - I don't use single shot databases.
The database should be included in your deployment and placed in either your application folder or the users application data folder, the one that turns up as a special folder.
Now you have a relative or stable path to the database and can use that instead of the registry.
2 reasons not to use the registry.
User requires admin rights which may not be available
Registry is sooo 90s

That depends on so many variables it will not make sense to answer it definitively. Country, cost os tools, market, development skills, marketing skills and not least family commitments are all key ingredients to this decision.
There are a number of articles on CP that are well worth reading. You do need to be careful who you take advice from, I went broke in the 90's as a freelance developer/architect/consultant (thats why I point you to someone elses advice). You also need a fair bit of business nous to may a success of it.

I do 'aim' (cant't find the right word here) for a career in software development. As a freelancer or under contract by a company. I just finished my 3rd year of education as a bachelor in engineering specialization ICT. Next year will be my last, giving me a masters degree. I feel this is the way to go for me. Since my grades are well above average and my grades in programming are way above average. Mostly because of my immense (no really, I eat C# for breakfast  ) curiosity toward the subject and second my fast learning and being able to understand code without the help of others. For most part that is. I still have quite a way to go, but I can't think of anything else that drives me more than developing software 
Would you recommend bying a copy of Studio 2008 on Ebay or anything? With the item still being in the box of course.
Some of the prices I have seen are around 150 euros. That sounds like a bargain to me *Hopping up and down my chair*

If it sounds too good to be true and especially if it is on the net then it is not genuine. These will be pirate copies.
I beleive there may be a 'spark' program from Microsoft that may apply to being a student where you can get a legal version very cheaply.
As a freelancer you need MUCH more than just programming skills. Without experience you are in a very difficult position. Try and get some "intern" type work or do some freebie stuff for school/uni/charity just to get the experience. Start looking to the big companies for junior roles.
