hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible in C# to access an application to make it execute some actions based on some specific events. For example, i'm using the yahoo messenger as a chat, and i'd like to make it save all the received and sent messages automatically in a specific file.doc when exiting. This is already possible with it but it has to be done manually by clicking on the save button.
Thanks,

yeah, at my school, we've been having accessing private ftp's. is this a setting that can be changed in internet explorer? what's the setting called. or any other way. I can probably find the reg. key if you know what it's called. thank you.

I would guess that is more a function of the network you are on. If you mean private meaning within your school then it will just be an FTP server within the network somewhere. If you mean you have to log on to the FTP server and you want to know where the authentication information is stored then you are out of luck as only the SYSTEM user (i.e. the operating system) has access to that.
If it is not either of these situations then you will have to be more specific in your request.

yeah, how do I add text to a textBox (programmatically, not via the user) on the next line if there is already text in it?
danke schon,

textBox.Text += "\r\n" + newTextToAdd;

Also if you want to insert text at the current active point in the edit control you can programatically copy text to the clipboard then paste it in to the control by calling the controls' paste method. (it's the only way to insert text into the current position or replace highlighted text as far as i know) If you just want to append it then it's a simple: control.text+="some new text";

Sorry to correct you, but TextBox has a SelectedText property, that, when set, just does what you describe: replace the text currently selected. If there's no text selected, setting SelectedText will insert this text at the cursor position.

I want my application to send a request to search engine(Yahoo.com ,Excite,Altavista,msn) and the search engine should return the URLs of the top 10 sites that match the keywords I sent to the search engine.
I have found google.com contain an API for developers but the other search engines does not provide a similar API or web service.
Thanks in advance

Yes, you can use the webservice API provided by Google. For others, I'm afraid you've to resort to screen scraping (directly parse the HTML output).

If I understand you correctly, you want the user to see one thing.. say a Customer Name, but you want to use a different value, say Customer ID.. This is very easy to do.. Set the DataSource of the ComboBox (ComboBox.DataSource) and then set the ComboBox.DisplayMember for what to be displayed and the ComboBox.ValueMemeber for what the value of that item should be... example:
<br />
ComboBox myCombo = new ComboBox();<br />
myCombo.SelectedValueChanged += new System.EventHandler(this.myCombo_SelectedValueChanged);<br />
<br />
DataTable myDataTable = new DataTable();<br />
<br />
myDataTable.Columns.Add("Customer Name");<br />
myDataTable.Columns.Add("Customer ID");<br />
<br />
DataRow myRow = myDataTable.NewRow();<br />
myRow["Customer Name"] = "Joe Smith";<br />
myRow["Customer ID"] = "1024";<br />
myDataTable.Rows.Add(myRow);<br />
<br />
myCombo.DataSource = myDataTable;<br />
myCombo.DisplayMember = myDataTable.Columns["Customer Name"].ToString();<br />
myCombo.ValueMember = myDataTable.Columns["Customer ID"].ToString();<br />
<br />
private void myCombo_SelectedValueChanged(object sender, System.EventArgs e) {<br />
MessageBox.Show("Display: " + myCombo.Text + " - " + "Value: " + myCombo.SelectedValue.ToString());<br />
}<br />
hope this helps!

I'll repeat my previous response because it continues to be valid:
It's not going to happen. The two languages are too different. It is possible between languages that both use the .NET framework as a converter only has to deal with the syntax of the language (as both languages share the same framework).
I've put in bold the only condition in which it is possible.

You can compile it in C using the Managed C++ compiler, create a wrapper class and then call it from C#.
