It mearly tells the control to take on the background settings of it's parent container. If you set the BackColor of the Panel to Transparent, only the background of the form will show through. Controls sitting behind the Panel will NOT show up! The only way to do this is by overriding the behavior of the Loader in the Kernel, which you've already found. The siganture is - BOOL WINAPI DllMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, DWORD dwReason, LPVOID lpReserved) I think I know that DWORD is an Int32 and LPVOID is a long pointer, so I'm using long* for that, but I'm not sure what type HINSTANCE should be. I would appreciate if somebody could help me out with this application because it is a hobby project to learn more about files and how to find contents inside them. Info: - The textfile has about 7000 records now but it will increase to about 12000 soon. - Structure is following: ID, pid, pname, pnotes * ID-record number * pid can consists up to 4 different pnames (pid can look like this: A-E6-W2B4PE) If there are 4 pnames for a pid, it means 4 different rows. * pname is connected to pid. * every pname has pnotes, but some of them are blank (no contents) (50% are blank now) What do I want? *************** - I want to search for a "pid" and return all data for that pid, such as ALL pnames, ID and pnotes for it. - I want to be able to do a search for pnames which could be matched EXACTLY or PARTIAL and then it returns the pcid connected with that pname and also the pnotes. Since i am a new programmer in VS .NET and learning C# I would appreciate if somebody could help me with new ideas and recommendations or even a solution. Thanks! Polymorphism (I believe ) You can google for articles on those keywords. I know it's not a direct answer to your question, but maybe it helps. Try a beginners book for C#.
