In your BIOS.
From a coding point of view to run only on one logical CPU (aka hyperthread), you could probably set the processor affinity in the running process.

Try: & amp; (but without the space, i added the space since CP changes it to the and sign)

Why not? That's the way you display an & in a label.
A single & is used to specify a shortcut key, and && is used to display & in the label.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Try setting the UseMnemonic property of the Label to true.
I believe your developing a desktop application. Right?

You're going to want to set the UseMnemonic property to false, not true to get the ampersand to display in the label's Text property.

Hi,
In the project, the code can save data into the xml file.
Notice that one of the elements is <sql>
if the data to be saved is only one line for <sql> then it gets saved in a nice format as you see below.
i.e.
<check>
<id>33</id>
<property>Indexing service</property>
<type>service</type>
<enabled>True</enabled>
<note>This is a service</note>
<sql>cidaemon</sql>
</check>
BUT, if the data to be saved has multiple sql lines then the saved format is not nice and proper. It gets saved as below:
<check>
<id>33</id>
<property>Indexing service</property>
<type>service</type>
<enabled>True</enabled>
<note>This is a service</note>
<sql>cidaemon and some
other lines.notice there are more than one
lines here</sql>
</check>
Question:
How can I make sure the above xml is save in a nice format i.e:
<check>
<id>33</id>
<property>Indexing service</property>
<type>service</type>
<enabled>True</enabled>
<note>This is a service</note>
<sql>cidaemon and some
other lines.notice there are more than one
lines here
</sql>
</check>

Your last snippet is exactly the same as the 2nd one, but it lacks a closing tag. Fix you post, maybe we can help you then.

Just modified it as you asked.

XML is not meant to be formatted nicely, it just needs to be correct. XML was never intended for human editing/viewing.
If you really do want that, then parse and modify the XML on a text level after it was created.

Dear All,
I want to let user choose the city then my application will find the time zone and converts it to universal time. how can I do that? I am trying to search for a web service.
Thanks.

System.TimeZoneInfo only in .NET 3.5 onwards.

If the code is running on the client you could simply use the System.DateTime's .ToUniversalTime method.
And I had expected DateTime to have an Offset property, but I don't see one. To get it you could use something like System.TimeSpan.Parse ( System.DateTime.Now.ToString ( "zzzzz" ) ) (yuck).
I suppose there are better ways of getting the local system's UTC offset, but I haven't need any yet.

hi,
i wrote an application that sends and receives data via serial port.
when i am connected via the PC real serial port(COM1) everything works fine.
when i connect a USB serail port and try to work with it only short messages work ok. but if i have big messages it doesn't work properlly.
my usb device is ok (i have an old application in MFC that work fine with the USB serial, sending and receiving big packets)
can anyone tell me what could be the reason for it and how can i fix it?
thanks,
Samy

Probably your COM port settings. Make sure they are the same as the MFC app. Also check any additional settings.

I am curious, I have been using USB-to-RS232C on many occasions, never had any trouble (but
always have short messages, i.e. less than 100 chars)
What is big? at what length does it start to fail?
and what is your baudrate?
You are aware timing is different? the serial data (actual data and control line status) gets
grouped and packetized to make USB transport efficient. So if your code contains some delays,
you may have to increase them a bit.
BTW: not really a C# issue, is it?

Hi guys,
Im about to start development on a countdown timer that will display the time left for a particular product.
the format will be like this - 00:00:11.
I have been watching the AJAX video tutorials so im thinking of approaching this by setting an updatePannel with a timer with a tick event every 1000ms. Inside the updatePannel i could have a label that is attached to a C# method that contains the countdown logic
2 questions...
1: is this a good way forward or not.
2: can anyone suggest data time classes/methods that i will find useful so for example an admin can enter a start date and an end date and the timer will show the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining.
the site im trying to emulate is this http://www.telebid.com/ looks like they have AJAX countdown timers too.
thank you for your help
