Hi i am having a problem in following code, in this code i am trying
to start a splash screen then do some work (here i m just sleeping the
thread), then close splash and start second form. problem is that when
first form closes, focus drops to anything under it, Visual Studios if
i m debugging or explorer when running exe. how can i get focus to my
second form.
static void Main()
{
frm = new Form2();
Thread splashThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(startThread));
splashThread.Start();
Thread.Sleep(2000);//For checking
frm.Close();
Application.Run(new Form1());
}
public static void startThread()
{
Application.Run(frm);
}

the call is not made correct.
call the splash screen in the Form1 in the page load
and call the form1 in the above code.
that should solve your problem

I downloaded the program BlogWebCam-cs given on this website to have a webcam stream into my GUI. I had to cut and paste of course to work with my code and it compiles without errors. When I first started the program it gave the message can not find WIA camera came up. Now when I run the program I get nothing out of the panel that should display the streaming web cam. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

When i am adding pivot table component in Visual Studio 2005, it is getting added but seen as passive, not active.I right clicked the toolbox in VS 2005 and clicked Choose item.
I selected COM components, and under that i checked against Microsoft Office Pivot Table 10.0 and 11.0.
It is listing in the toolbox but not active.So i cannot use it in the web page.
Can anyone suggest how to make the control active in Toolbox.

Of course it wont work on a web page, it's a WinForm control, not a WebControl...

Have you tried session variables ?? ex: on the datagrid page ..... Session["myValue"] = CellValue;
and then on the main page ..... TextBox1.Text = Session["myValue"].ToString();
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a new requirement to create a service so that my service would query the table every 5 0r 10 minutes to fetch the data from database and i have to pass the value to a particular port.
Can someone suggest me the methodology.Can i go for windows service or webservice?
Thanks,

Hello,
This smells like polling. Do you really need to poll for data? What kind of value do you need to pass? Is this some kind of selection criterium or is this the amount of data that you need or what?
If you want to do database intensive tasks, you can try replicating the database and do all the intensive stuff on a dedicated server.

Problem Scenario:
We have a database with information.
We have some ASP.NET web applications that request information from this database.
We do not want to give these applications direct access to the database.
Solution:
So, we planned on creating an API layer with some c# objects (ADO.NET objects) that access the database and instantiates some objects with the information stored in their properties.
The applications will then be able to access the information from these C# objects, instead of directly connecting to the database.
We have to make sure that these objects are alive even if the web application is stopped.
To make a long story short, we basically want to create some stand-alone application (may be a windows service in C#) that exposes an API for the web applications. This stand-alone application has objects that act as caches by maintaining the up-to-date information. Whenever the server is on low load, it updates the database with the latest information it has. All applications should be able to access objects of this stand-alone application to get the information. This stand-alone application should live for ever, ideally until the machine on which it runs is shutdown.
Question:
Which type of project in Visual Studio should I create to develop such c# objects? Will Windows service be a solution? if so, how can I access the objects created by it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
