Hi,
To convert an mp3 file to byte stream try using this code:
<br />
FileStream fstream = File.Open("example.mp3");<br />
byte []buffer = new byte[fstream.Length];<br />
fstream.Read(buffer,0,buffer.Length);<br />
fstream.Close();<br />
Then use the buffer to send data on the network. To recreate the mp3 file (in the receiver application) you can do something like:
<br />
FileStream fstream = File.Create("path\\example.mp3");<br />
fstream.Read(buffer,0,buffer.Length);<br />
fstream.Flush();<br />
fstream.Close();<br />

Hi,
I had a look over the code i wrote and i must apologise because i made a mistake. When you create the mp3 file from a byte array the method that must be called is fstream.Write(buffer,0,buffer.Length) not fstream.Read(...).
Sorry. I haven't seen than when i wrote the code. Hope it helps you in your task.

I saw a video at one point where the author added a search to a toolbar using the Windows Forms designer, but I don't remember where I saw it. Anyways, does anyone know a way to add a database search to the toolbar through the designer? The video author had a dataset (and all the other controls, binding navigator, binding source, and table adapter) all setup on the designer.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

how can i apply or set skin for the forms of the project
thanks fo help

Hello
The concept of skins differs from an application to another. Some developers define skins in the applications as simply applying different colors to their froms. This is done simply by changes properties of you form that you'd find in the appearance section of the property grid. You could change them programatically. Another thing is to apply simple images to the background of the form and to different buttons and other control. Most controls support the property BackgroundImage .
On the other hand, if you want to apply more advanced method of making transparent forms, or forms with irregular edges, I advise you to read about GDI+[^] in the articles section. Once you know how to display form in one skin hardcoded, you can store different variables -eg, colors, dimensions, images, etc..- in external files, and ship them as skin patches for your application.

How to gain access to advanced file properties? For example, I want access to file version Other Version Information comments. Or file summary title and comments. I was hoping FileInfo would have that but from what I can see it doesn’t
Thanks

Hello
I think you are talking more bout metadata? They are stored in the filestream itslef. In the Audio section[^] you'd find to articles about extracting metadata.

Well the stuff over in audio is specific to WMF so it's not much help. I’m looking for metadata from NTFS. I’ve googled ‘file properties dialog’ ‘ntfs metadata’ and many other combinations and synonyms of these phrases. All I want to do is programmatically right click on an exe and view its version info.
Thanks though. I can't belive this is so hard. It was supose to be a QnD utility

Hello
In your original post you mentioned Summary and title which are called metadata and are specific to audio/video files only. I thought you were talking about them -sorry!:->-. If you want to get the versions info of exe files only you should use FileVersionInfo class instead.

I believe that what you are looking for are called "Extended File Properties". I think you can get some useful info on Google.
I used to have a VB6 program that (I didn't write it) that would extract the extend file properties. I looked, but couldn't find it. Google had many hits. If you find something good, please post the link.

Thanks for the FileVersionInfo Tip. I think that will do the trick. It also returns the coments and other info I'm looking for. Right click on any file->proporties->summery and this class gives you access to all that. That was what i'm looking for. I woldn't have thought to look at FileVersionInfo FileInfo seemed like the right one
Oh well
Thanks again

Could you try to explain this in a different way? I don't think it's clear what you are trying to ask.

Ok. Will try.
On scrollbar we have button with arrow down. I putted in grid two types of rows small and large(height).
After I click button with arrow down on scroll first row (small) become invisible. Then after I again click second row become invisible. Bu second row is large and it looks like not smooth.

if i have a array
string[] myArray = {"Wes","Josh","Dave"};
and i want to rotate the order ever so often programmically what is the best way to do that? The program will know when it wants dave to be first but then wes needs to be second and so forth.

Then retreive the values using the index in the order you would like

Hello
string[] MyArray = {"Wes","Josh","Dave"};
private void Rearrange(byte OldIndex, byte NewIndex)
{
string Temp = MyArray[OldIndex];
MyArray[OldIndex] = MyArray[NewIndex];
MyArray[NewIndex] = Temp;

Hi,
In SQL Server Everywhere, there is no support for keyword "TOP" for selecting
limited number of rows. Can you give me any idea how can I perform similar task with this limitation ?
Thanks in advance

Perhaps it would be better to ask this question in the SQL forum

Hi,
I have Form A who is the MDI container, Form B and Form C children. Now, In order to call a method
of parent MDI Container from Form B, I have a delegate which trigger event in Form A (MDI Container) and Form A call a Background worker of Form C as
response of that event (Event Handler). Now while the background worker is working, can I close the calling child form (Form A) ? I was wondering, Do I need
to keep Form B active for the whole time when background worker is busy in Form C ?
