horrible, and I tried to do [TABLENAME].[ACTION], but I couldn't fool it like that .
I guess I'll just have to rename it .
Anyway, now I know what's going wrong .

Open the statement in Query Analyzer or whatever else you use.
Remove columns in the statement until you locate the problem item (you may have to let nulls be placed in field temporarily).

Hi all
I'm not able to use the ConfigurationManager class.
Each time I try to access to Application Settings I receive an exception.
In my App.config file I have
<!--General Settings--><br />
<appsettings><br />
<add key = "Author" value = "manustone" /><br />
</appsettings><br />
inside <configuration></configuration>.
I added a reference to System.Configuration.dll
When in my code i use
<br />
string strAuthor = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Author"];<br />
I've got an exception.
Do you know where is the problem?
Regards

What's the exception...
I don't know if this solves your problem...
change appsettings to appSettings in your app.config
remove the spaces after the key and value attributes
<br />
<add key = "Author" value = "manustone" /><br />
to
<br />
<add key="Author" value="manustone" /><br />
The rest looks fine to me... it those steps above don't work, we might require the exception message thrown...

Do you get this error : "Unrecognized configuration section appsettings" ? if you do then change appsettings to appSettings as advised earlier , otherwise supply us with the exception you are getting.

frmMdiZNMS myform1;//frmMdiZNMS is the parent form
myform1 = (frmMdiZNMS)frmMdiZNMS.ActiveForm ;
if(myform1 != null)
{
//isSerialConnected is the serialport connection status
if(myform1.isSerialConnected==true)
{
//write is used to write the data through serial port using RS232 Application
myform1.serPort.Write(myform1.paninfo.ClearBindingRequest(srcaddress,destaddress));
myform1.paninfo.Events.Add(new Event(0,"Clear Binding table request sent.",(int)EVENT_TYPE.INFORMATION));
}
else
{
myform1.paninfo.Events.Add(new Event(0,SERIAL_NOT_CONNECTED,(int)EVENT_TYPE.CRITICAL));
return;
}
}
In this method every time myform1 should shows undefined value.
So I cant able to write the data in to the serial port.
Please do the needful
Thanks & Regards

Hello,
Do you mean the static property "System.Windows.Forms.Form.ActiveForm"?
Maybe this works:
frmMdiZNMS myform1 = (frmMdiZNMS)System.Windows.Forms.Form.ActiveForm;
or
frmMdiZNMS myform1 = System.Windows.Forms.Form.ActiveForm as frmMdiZNMS;
All the best,
Martin

I am getting following error
An invalid VARIANT was detected during a conversion from an unmanaged VARIANT to a managed object. Passing invalid VARIANTs to the CLR can cause unexpected exceptions, corruption or data loss.
while using a component in .Net (C#) Project. Please let me know its solution.

Are you looking for GetObjectForNativeVariant()?

Hello,
Beginning with the hard bit first, I have recently started looking for a way to control a panel's background's opacity, and have not encountered a fully explained C# solution (though there are quite a lot of VB ones, which I sadly only managed to gape at without understanding a thing).
I have seen the way to make it completely transparent[^], and I have encountered a way to create opacity for a PictureBox's image[^]... but attempts to combine the two have failed miserably.
I assume that once I get the transparent background thing going, drawing a non-transparent border (perhaps using some of the code from here[^]) would be easy enough to figure out (though if it clashes with the opacity goal, then I would like to know how/why).
I'd appreciate any tips/links/code bits/etc.
Thanks.

Hello,
I had the same problem, by using a backgroundimage on a Form.
There are some solution (property "TransparencyKey") that are not working for every graphic card.
This works:
Bitmap bm = new Bitmap(...);<br />
Color transparent = bm.GetPixel(0,0);<br />
bm.MakeTransparent(transparent);<br />
<br />
this.BackgroundImage = bm;
What I found out is, that you can not change the opacity after you made it transparent. (Ok, you can but transparency doesn't work after that.)
After you change opacity you have to "MakeTransparent" again.
I know it's not much, but maybe it helps.
All the best,
Martin

Hmm... I think there may have been a misunderstanding.
What I'm trying to do is create a panel with opacity, so that when I move it around over other controls, the other controls are visible under it, but the panel's background is still shown, just faded according to its opacity value. Something to the effect of looking at the world through a piece of colored cellophane...
If I understand your suggestion correctly, that code will make my panel transparent, but I want it to still be visible, but faded.

Only the color of the specified bixel will be transparent.

...But I don't want full transparency on any bit of the panel, just opacity.
I want it to look like in this Photoshopped-ed image[^]. (the blue panel isn't fully transparent, but you can still see stuff under it, such as that button)
