i've tried it but without much success. i've played around with it but no luck yet. Is the name for the printer i have saved correct? "HP-Color Inkjet CP1700" this is the printer i saved but is this the name format i need? or do i need some sort of printer id? also, i tried to print a word document in this manner but this failed as well. "Run-Time error: '1120' There is a printer error" That is why i asked if there is a problem with the name as i have it saved... i have the printer name saved.

Add a Timer
Let the user determine when to show popup.
Set the time duration.
When the timer fires, open your new (popup) form

Hello,
I need of a help with Custom DataBinding
I'd created 3 Persistent objects
- CVObject (Business Object Base)
- CVObjectCollection (Collection of CVObject)
Implements ICollectionBase, IBindingList
- CVDataSource (DataSource to my Business Object)
Implements IListSource
GetList returns a CVObjectCollection
In CVDataSource, I have a method called Append()
these method create my CVObject instance and set a flag(isAddNew) to true, calling BeginEdit(), and adding my object in CVObjectCollection.
<br />
private CVObjectCollection objectsList;<br />
<br />
public void Append()<br />
{<br />
object obj = Activator.CreateInstance(ObjectType, new object[] {true});<br />
_currentIndex = (objectsList as IList).Add(obj);<br />
this[_currentIndex] = obj;<br />
(obj as IEditableObject).BeginEdit();<br />
}<br />
I have in CVDataSource too the method Save()
<br />
public void Save()<br />
{<br />
CVObject obj = (CVObject)listaObjetos[_currentIndex];<br />
(obj as IEditableObject).EndEdit();<br />
}<br />
The Binding is working perfectly, but I would like of implement a custom save method to my CVObject.
Example:
In my forms I have two TextBoxes Control (txtCode, txtDescription) and two Buttons Control (btnNew, btnSave).
private void btnNew_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
this.myDataSource.Append();
}
private void btnSave_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
this.myDataSource.Save();
}
What I wanna to do is following:
First: When CVDataSource to call the Append() method, to create a new object and to grant to the TextBoxes new values, as such as, blank values.
Second: When CVDataSource to call the Save() method, to save new object updated to BD.
The problem: When I call the Append() method the object, it's added correctly to collection, but the binding controls do not receive the new object.
I searched in internet by google and too in msdn library but, I not found some implementation to .NET Framework 1.1 version. I readed about PropertyChanged but, it is only in Framework 2.0, and the others implementations that I found, say to handle a Custom PropertyChanged in each Business Class derived from CVObject, but I dont wanna to do thus. I would like of use the Business Class just to mapping and to centre anything in my Base Object (CVObject), including the Custom PropertyChanged...
Someone can help me?

Is it possible to build your application so that a referenced .dll file is merged with the .exe? I have used a component in my project which states I may not include the component as a .dll file when I release my program.
If this cannot be done, what is the way to use a component without including the dll file as a separate component?
Thanks.

There's normally a reason why you can't include the DLL when you release your program. It's generally called the License agreement.

Sorry kinda new to this, so if i use a component from a third party .dll file, how do i build the program without including the dll file, and still have it run correctly?

If their license prohibits you from redistributing it you can't, or you require that all the people who use your application must buy the component. That's probably not going to fly.
Alternatively, use a component that does what you want that you can redistribute.
Which component is it?

It's the free GraphicsServer.NET graphing component which came as a registered benefit from registering Visual Studio Express.
Here's the important part of the EULA for reference
"Your license rights include the right to perform this compilation and to distribute User Applications, provided (a) you do not distribute the source code for the User Application,(b) you do not distribute, bundle, wrap or subclass the Software, and as a component, which, when used in a Design Time development environment exposes the programmatic interface of the Software,"
So is my only option to find another component (ie. opensource)?
Thanks

That section of the license agreement looks as though it states that you cannot wrap this component up and present it as your own. It looks as though you should be able to redistribute the component as part of your program (but check this with a lawyer first).

Thanks, I'll have to ask someone with more legal know-how than myself.
The reason i believe it prevents me from redistributing the dll, is because of the following bolded lines. If i included the dll file, it could still be in development i believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
(b) you do not distribute, bundle, wrap or subclass the Software, and as a component, which, when used in a Design Time development environment exposes the programmatic interface of the Software,"

See my answer above. I believe that the issue here is about wrapping the component and representing it as your own.

Guys,
I'm having a bunch of insertstatements that are generated by code like following:
INSERT INTO ACTION_SELF (ACTION_ID,ACTION,TELEPHONE,CURENT) VALUES ('MYINSTR4','ct: Sleep','011295670','T');
The four columns are from a mdb file and are defined as text.
I have tested with three tables from which this is the simplest of design and the other two insert fine!
moreover, this query succeeds if I open up Access and execute it there and also if I fire it to an oracle db via my code.
the error message says: "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement."
Anybody any idea what's going wrong? I checked the column size, removed the ";", ..., but I can't find the error?
Many thanks!
V.

I think it's got something to do with data types, what are the data types of your columns??
|
|
|
|
|
System.String so it should be allright

I think he means the columns in the database

Hi,
hard to say. You could check two things:
1. Are you sure you mean CURENT and not CURRENT ?
2. Probably one of your column names is a special keyword. Try the following:
INSERT INTO ACTION_SELF ("ACTION_ID","ACTION","TELEPHONE","CURENT") VALUES ('MYINSTR4','ct: Sleep','011295670','T');

ACTION was a keyword. Stupid me, I already renamed the table to ACTION_SELF because I thought ACTIONS was a keyword, than I forget to check the columns...
thanks it works now...

|
|
|
|
Yes, ACTION is a reserved keyword in JET4 (OLEDB) and ODBC, but not in the database itself.
