What are you talking about? How else do you expect to get it, magic? Maybe you need a career change, you could call youself "The Great Cardi".

led mike,
The public key exchange for SSL is done before the SSL connection is established. I belive this is how the protocal works (Maybe I'm wrong). That is the only portion of the SSL protocal that I am looking to implement. I not really interested in secure communication or ecrypted sockets. I just need the server to transfer me its SSL cert.

Mike,
I am aware of how the SSL protocal works. What I am looking for is if someone on has implemented just the Handsake or X509 Certificate exhange portion of the SSL protocal. As the title of this topic suggets.

Im trying to be able to click a button and have qtys added and deducted from my db. I have a update query that works fine when I execute it. The problem Im having is using the query in my click event. Heres the code:
<< private void btn500pballs_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
this.inventoryTableAdapter.UpdateQuery500(this.paintballDataSet.Inventory);
ListViewItem item1 = new ListViewItem("Paintballs 500ct");
item1.SubItems.Add("$12.00");
listViewmain.Items.AddRange(new ListViewItem[] { item1 });
}
>>
I keep getting an error
No overload for method 'UpdateQuery500' takes '1' arguments.
Any help, please?

UpdateQuery500 is some function that you defined? The error No overload for method 'UpdateQuery500' takes '1' arguments sounds like the function call
this.inventoryTableAdapter.UpdateQuery500(this.paintballDataSet.Inventory);
isn't calling UpdateQuery500 with the correct number of parameters.
|
|
|
|
|
Yeah the Updatequery500 is an update statement that increments qty sold by 1 and decrements qty on hand by 1 in a specific row. What would dictate the number of parameters?

The number of parameters is dictated by the functions' definition. You need to find where the function is defined and check there to see what else you need to pass into it besides whatever this.paintballDataSet.Inventory is.
Ex.
private void btn500pballs_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
}
requires you pass in an object and EventArgs as parameters when calling it (although it looks like an event handler, so you shouldn't be calling it directly).
As others have said this is pretty basic. If you're really that new to C#/programming in general then you might want to check out some primer articles here[^] before you dive into databases and other more advanced stuff.

What's the problem? Do you understand what that error message means?

Actually I dont, Im a novice.
Could you explain the 'arguments' thing?

I think you should learn basics of programming first and then try to update database. IMHO

At this stage, seeking help on creating a word pair object and calling a method for matching two different stringgs- one that produces a match and one that doesn't & be able to show the results of these matches.
Many thanks.

hi everyone,
well, I'm facing a strange probelm while I'm trying to populate a dataset table thru BackGroundWorker. I wanted this process to go into another thread as in the later future this could take some time.
I'm making a form in a windows application in C# 2.0 where the user selects a duration by selecting 2 dates and then presses the Go button and I
At first the code worked well but later it started to behave differently as there was simply no response on pressing the button. It turned out that the backgroundWorker was busy... and the application just hung up and crashed. Later I changed the code and populated the datatable in the usual manner.( in teh single threaded manner and it worked fine) but it doesnt satisfy me at all.
Please guve a few guidelines on this.
thanks for ur help

This is just a guess without seeing your code. When you click the button you probably need to check to see if the background worker process it already running. If it is you need to decide if you want to cancel it. Since you are using .net 2.0 perhaps you should just thing about using an asycn database call. If you look up SqlCommand.BeginExecuteReader you will find a nice example of how to do this.
Hope that helps.

well I was just calling the TableAdapters Fill method actually and now I'll on BeginExecuteReader. I' dont know if the tableAdapters fill method makes a asyncronous database call or not.

I have a simple common library project (XXX) with only an interface
with a string property A
public interface IXXX
{
string A{get;}
}
Than the Application A (for example a WinApp project called A)
references to XXX and implement IXXX, using [Serializable] Attribute
[Serializable]
public class XXX : IXXX
{
...
}
It has also a AObj "remotable" class:
public class AObj : MarshalByRefObject
{
IXXX[] GetXXX()
{
...
}
}
Another Application B needs to communicate with application A using Remoting;
B references XXX.dll because in its business logic, some class instance in B
makes a request to an instance of AObj (AObj.GetXXX()) using remoting and
receives from it an Array of IXXX; this call cause a SerializationException;
1)If the implementation XXX is inserted in the XXX project, no error occurs...
2)If I want to implement IXXX in the project A without problem, XXX
must extends MarshalByRefObject, but it's not what I want...
Some ideas?

Hi,
Im trying to print out a DataGridView. I bascily go through the data grid views columns and draw the columns name as a string. I then go through the data set and draw each row as a string.
The problem im having is i draw the columns/row posistion of the data grid views column width. Thus, if the column is only 10px wide but the text within that row is larger than the column, i draw the row and it over laps the next columns row.
eg:
Column A - ColumnB
aaaaaaaaaaabaaaaa
As you can see, column a's data is draw over column b's. I've thought of trimming the string and only drawing that, but since im printing the data, that kinda defeats the whole idea of printing something out.
Does anyone have any ideas how to over come this?
My only idea how to fix it would be to go through columns and check the width is big anough for the rows, and if not adjust the posistion and then draw the column names.
Regards,
Gareth.
