Unfortunately, Royal Mail has a license on the address data so you end up having to pay for it. Companies such as GB Mail and QAS tend to roll the license into their own, so you end up paying one fee which covers their license and the Royal Mail one.

I am currently tasked with providing a friendlier user interface here at work that will provided new features, but also will interact with several console apps. I need to be able to read/write to these applications. The key is being able to read and write multiple times to the same process.
I understand that I could use batch files for this but this will not provide the real-time feedback and interaction that I need to pull this off cleanly.
I am a former VB6 developer that has been using C# for a short time now. I have written similar applications to this one in VB6 using a DLL written by Franky Braem (http://www.codeproject.com/atl/redirect.asp). This worked great and is what I need to recreate in C#.
I have a code that is capable of reading and writing to the console using the System.Diagnostic namespace redirecting stdin, stdout and stderr (single thread). My issue with this code is that I have to close the StreamWriter of the process in order to read the stdout. Due to this when I attempt to send a subsequent string to the console I get an error that the TextWriter has been closed. Can I reopen this? I cannot locate anything on doing this.
I played with a second example written by Scott Hanselman (http://www.hanselman.com/blog/SoManyMistakesForMeToMakeSoLittleTimecapturingStandardErrorAndStandardOutput.aspx) that is multithreaded. This exhibits the same behavior described above.
In reality I would really like a C# version of Franky Braem's redirect DLL in C#. Any help here will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Have you searched for information on that? Have you tried the C# threading tutorial here on CodeProject?

Sorry got the thread issue resolved. What I cannot get is a class that acts like the redirect library referenced at the beginning.

hi,
This is little complex...
i have Ant script which calls 'devenv.exe' to compile a project written in .net 2005. Here a third party dll is used(it was developed in .net framewrk 1.1. and i'm using framewrk 2.0)
When i compile the project from solution explorer, it compiles without any error. But when i do it by using devenv.exe, it says that it can't locate the dll...below is the error:
"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets : warning MSB3245: Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "signdll". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. If this reference is required by your code, you may get compilation errors."
can anyone tell why this happens?

Hi i have the following code in my form.cs file...
DataTable dt = new DataTable("SampleTable");
DataSet ds = new DataSet("Dataset");
dt.Columns.Add("EmpNo", System.Type.GetType("System.Int32"));
dt.Columns.Add("EmpName", System.Type.GetType("System.String"));
DataRow drow;
drow = dt.NewRow();
drow["EmpNo"] = 1001;
drow["EmpName"] = "Ranjith";
dt.Rows.Add(drow);
drow = dt.NewRow();
drow["EmpNo"] = 1003;
drow["EmpName"] = "Surrendra";
dt.Rows.Add(drow);
ds.Tables.Add(dt);
Now i want this data table (either the dataset ) to be displayed in a report. I've .rdlc in my project and the report viewer control.
Also I've tried by setting the reportViewer into local mode and adding the data table as datasource, but still the report is seen blank.( I haven't done anything on the .rdlc file after creating it)...
Can anyone help me out in this?

Here is my previous reply on similar question:
You should define Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportDataSource and assign
Name and Value for it and than add it to the ReportViewer controls
LocalReport.DataSource. The best will be to take a look a tutorial video at
http://perseus.franklins.net/msnewengland/reportviewer.htm
and the code generated in InitializeComponent. Of course, this is applicable
if you are generating local report (server reports are even easier).

Hi
We have an application which is dual developed for both SQL 2000 and Oracle 9i. We are having a very strange problem which seems to be specific to Oracle. When a control is left we are having to specifically set the latest change to the dataset as it does not seem to be automatically persisted.
Has anyoone experienced this issue before with Oracle and databinding in .NET 2.0?
Thanks in advance.

Me no. Somebody I used to work with. Yes.
There seem to be several issues with Oracle and databinding (or rather the Oracle provider and databinding). One problem he had was deleting data and then recreating it (with a unique constraint on the name). Even though he thought he had issued the delete, and the data in the dataset looked like it had been deleted, the underlying database hadn't been affected.

Having got fed up of having to continually double click my way through each of the columns in my DataGrid component, is there anyway of
either..
1) Automatically getting the datagrid to resize its columns to the data
or...
2) Automating this double click at the join of all the columns in a datagrid
Cheers

Hey Keith,
There is a private method in the DataGrid control class that you can’t access directly through coding, however, all is not lost as Reflection can assist you here. I’ve done this before and implemented however I can’t find the souce I used so here is a brain dump from what I can remember:
<code>
private void MyDataGrid_DataSourceChanged(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
try
{
Type assemblyType = MyDataGrid.GetType();
MethodInfo methodInfo = assemblyType.GetMethod("ColAutoResize", BindingFlags.NonPublic);
for (int i = MyDataGrid.FirstVisibleColumn; (i < MyDataGrid.VisibleColumnCount); i++)
{
methodInfo.Invoke(MyDataGrid, new object[] { i });
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
}
}
</code>
I hope this gets you furthur in your project, happy reflectioning!

Isn't there anyone to answer this?
Hi, I wrote a Schema Validator in C#.NET.
XmlTextReader R = new XmlTextReader(FileToParse); <br />
XmlValidatingReader V = new XmlValidatingReader(R); <br />
try <br />
{ <br />
XmlSchemaCollection xsc = new XmlSchemaCollection(); <br />
xsc.Add("", SchemaFile); <br />
V.Schemas.Add(xsc); <br />
V.EntityHandling = EntityHandling.ExpandEntities; <br />
V.ValidationEventHandler += new ValidationEventHandler(ShowValidationErrors); <br />
while (V.Read()) <br />
{ <br />
} <br />
} <br />
catch (XmlException xe) <br />
{ <br />
} <br />
catch (XmlSchemaException xse) <br />
{ <br />
} <br />
catch (Exception ee) <br />
{ <br />
} <br />
finally <br />
{ <br />
V.Close(); <br />
MessageBox.Show("Validation Completed"); <br />
}
This works fine if the xml file DOES NOT contain entity declarations.
But, If the xml file contains any entity declaration (as below), the 'ValidationEventHandler' throws errors like
"Validation Error: The 'mytest' element is not declared.Line : 8 Position : 2"
"Validation Error: The 'articles' element is not declared.Line : 9 Position : 2", etc.....
How do I overcome this in C#.NET
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE mytest
[
a.'>
adv.'>
]>
<mytest xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="X:\Schema\content.xsd">

What does this have to do with C#??
And what are you talking about?? I can get something about an "About" dialog, but that's about it.

Hello community,
My problem is a Win32Exception, "Error creating window handle".
I know, normally it's a sign of a bad designed GUI if this happens. (Maybe also here, who knows)
But, I have a projects where a lot of controls on seperate UserControls and TabPages, have to stay in memory for the whole time.
This is like it is and can not be changed.
If I step threw all my GUI-"pages", at some point it crashes.
I did some tests and can say, that it is not a problem of:
too less memory
too high GDI objects (which are normaly limited to 10000, but can also be set higher)
I'm using a lot of selfe designed UserControls, which of corse can be redisigned in some cases.
Maybe if I do some changes there I could kill some subControls (1000-2000).
But this would mean that I'm always on the limit.
So I would like to have a method which allows me to find the big "handle eater" in my project first.
I'm also not sure if it is correct that the limit of max window handles in WinXP is fix 16bit, and can not be modified.
Thanks for suggestions!
Upps: Forgot to tell you, that I'm using .Net1.1, but I'm sure it will only be possible over an API.

Also Note: The Controls and Pages are in memory from beginning (start) of the application.
So stepping threw my pages are not effecting the used memory in any way.
All the best,
Martin

Hi!
You can p/invoke GetGuiResources() function from user32.dll to receive the number of GDI and USER objects currently used.

Hello mav,
Thanks a lot for you time!
I will test the Method as soon as I'm back in office and let you know if it helped me!
But from what I could found out of the documentation[^], it looks very promising!
So thank you very much!
Got my '5'!
All the best,

Hello all,
I am just starting a project that requires me to create a base application/service to act as a proxy between clients and webservices.
Nice and simple, if I have all the relevant WSDL files at compile time. However part of the requirements is that this application is extensible. In other words, once developed a "support" person can drop a new WSDL file into the application and without recompiling this becomes immediately available.
So the question is, does anybody know of a way that this can be done?
